“Nice buildings, awful pavement, cross girl”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2013

A great place to visit, although in 2008 some of the houses needed some restoration. The old pavement, big stone boulders, is not very comfortable for walking. It is amazing how those nice looking girls wearing heels could move around so quickly. The pharmacy was not opened. Too many souvenir shops and the temperature too hot in early July. My bulgarian friend was in a horrible mood.

“Historic Plovdiv is very Interesting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2013

We found the guided tour of historic Plovdiv to be very interesting. It provided a interesting insight into the long, varied history of this area of Bulgaria - A history ranging from Roman Times to the present. A walk through this area can be challenging if one is not in good shape.

“Beautiful Historic Old Town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

Strolling around the old town part of Plovdiv is fascinating even if you don't walk into any of the house museums. The architecture is completely different from anything I have seen anywhere else in Bulgarian or in the world. Do wear comfortable shoes though because the street "pavement" is what it was >100 years ago so you feel more like you are hiking rather than walking through town.

“Place for rest and history”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2012

Well preserved historic part of the city with lots of picturesque houses with typical architecture. Especially attractive in the part of Hisar Kapia - ancient gate of the city. You can see also many remainings from Roman time, down to Traces. Atmosphere is calm and you can enjoy many very cozy restaurants.
