“Very picturesque”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

Old Plovdiv is very picturesque with 19th century houses, narrow streets and a wealth of open-air art which makes it worth a walking tour.

“old and beautiful”
Reviewed September 25, 2012

Plovdiv is the second-largest city in Bulgaria. It is among the world's-oldest cities (6,000 years).
Plovdiv was originally a Thracian city, later becoming a Greek one, a Roman one, a Byzantine one, an Ottoman one and lastly a Bulgarian one.
Plovdiv is situated on the two banks of the Maritsa River. It is often called in Bulgaria as "The City of the Seven Hills".

In the 1970s and 1980s antique remains were excavated and the Old Town was fully restored. There are two ancient theatres, remains of the medieval walls and towers, Ottoman baths and mosques.
Plovdiv was a focal point for the Bulgarian national movement. During that period Plovdiv was a major economic center. The richer citizens built beautiful houses. In the well-preserved old quarter from that National Revival period you can see many of that beautiful houses, churches and narrow paved streets.

“Plovdiv is beautiful”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

There are lots of delicious restaurans cafes in Plovdiv. The historic 'ancient' Plovdiv is very attractive. There are also nice old Turkish wooden houses in the old Plovdiv. You can also try to go Casinos and also try to go Hissar for Termal baths from 40 km from Plovdiv. You will spend good time in Plovdiv. We loved it and will go to visit again.

“Deteriorating over time”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

The Old Town consists of a few winding streets, and was very quiet when we were there. Although there are some interesting buildings, it is a shame that much of it has been covered with graffiti. We spent a day here and felt we had seen it all - you could easily cover it in half a day.
