“Wonderful”
Reviewed May 14, 2014

It's worth it to trek up to Plovdiv's Old Town and see the layers of history in this fascinating place. The antique theater is a must see and quite impressive.

“A stage for amazing concerts”
Reviewed May 12, 2014

The theater is at the beginning of Plovdiv's old town. It's well preserved and maintained. You have to pay a small fee to get in,but I strongly recommend you go see a concert there. The atmosphere is amazing, lovely music under the stars. And when the lights illuminate it it's even more beautiful than if you see it during the day. Another option is the cafe in front of it,where you can admire it while drinking with your friends and family.

“Good views, unmaintained ruins”
Reviewed May 3, 2014

Walked through the Old Town and just kept going up, the views are good of the city; however, the police were dealing with some youngsters that were not respecting the ruins. Not a place to go at night or alone.

“Roman theatre found while digging road tunnel!”
Reviewed May 3, 2014

That's how this amazing amphitheater was found in 1972. The first about 14 rows are almost perfectly complete (though slippery when wet - facing the stage the far left side is the easiest stairs to use) and the stage area has been reassembled. In the summer they do use the theater for shows, but even in October it was an amazing sight in the middle of a city. Pay the fee and walk around and think about all the people since the 2nd century AD that have come here before. Very complete!

“Pretty impressive!”
Reviewed April 26, 2014

The Roman theatre was large and well-preserved. We had no hesitation paying the small entry fee considering how well this ancient theatre has been maintained.
