Una is one of the most beautiful rivers / areas I've been to.
The park itself is very nice, you can see many things, animals, fauna and places - while it's all surrounded by awesome nature and clearest water.

Staying there 1 or 2 nights is perfect.

( take some sun cream with you ;) )

We were visiting Una NP only for a few hours, but the impression of wildness was great. If we compare NP with Plitvice lakes just beyond the Croatian border, it has comparable beauty but is much less turistically exploited. The prices are fair (entrance fee for 2 adults in a car to Štrbaćki buk 6 eur), routes well marked, but indeed it would be very helpful if some main access roads would be a bit wider and surfaced (on the other hand, dirty roads are also a filter for spoiled tourists :). Forests and grasslands around are beautiful, well preserved and with rich submediterranean biodiversity, it seems that May or June would be perfect for plant-hunting, but also in July there is much to see.

So, we went there with a car and wanted to see Štrbački buk. Road from entrance 1 is, well, I don't have a word for it. We asked guy on the entrance can we pass there with a car since road is macadam (12 km) and he told us that it wont be a problem. It was a problem! I think that we travelled 1 hour that 12 km. So, if you go there, do not go on the entrance 1.
Nature is beautiful btw, but it's not worth of driving this road. Ask someone local for some other road to there.

We went to entrance 5 and 3 and were pleasantly surprised. Entrance 5 is a short walk (100m) up to a few waterfalls within the woods and there is a cool picknick place. Entrance 3 is after a rocky road, which we drove on with our Suzuki Swift. It's definitely do-able, just drive slowly. After a 30min drive you enter the park, from there on another 3km drive to the park and that was beautiful!
The path is paved with wooden stairs and leads all the way down to the end of a huge waterfall (strbacki buk). It is quiet in terms of people, refreshing and breath taking. There is enough space to have lunch, lay in the grass and enjoy the view.
We liked this much better than plitvice or krka NP's :-) the only downside is the rocky roads, but see it as another adventure!

Nice waterfall is worth the visit but problematic is the road access...

From BiH side you have to suffer more than 7km of dirt road to get there and again the same back, from croatin side just about 1/3 of this dirt-road pain!!!

Also NO ENTRANCE FEE from this side and much better views than from BiH one!!!
It is just SHAME that bosnians are GREEDY for your money but on the return are not able to offer you at least some decent road :o(
