“nice small hotel in a wonderful city”
Reviewed September 18, 2012

The Motel Emen was a good place to rest while touring Mostar. It is small, the staff was friendly and very helpful and the breakfast was very good- eggs, meat, cheese, bread and yogurt. It has a nice outdoor space on a small terrace, a perfect place to drink wine or enjoy your own lunch food. The location is very convenient to the old town. The entire experience in Mostar was enhanced by the stay at the Emen. It is a bit noisy outside but that is life in Mostar and part of the experience!

Room Tip: Rooms that open onto the terrace are very nice, but the terrace is available regardless.

Nice location, but certainly the worst property we stayed in during a two week vacation throughout the region. Lugged our suitcases up two flights of stairs to a room with air conditioning that barely worked. Our room had severely slanted ceilings and no matter how you turned, you would crack your head up against them. Lots of rules and regulations on a laminated piece of paper in the room, including "don't bother the host" after 10 pm; towels will be changed every 3 days, linens in 7 days and a host of financial penalties for breaking any of these "house rules". Lastly, we asked the hotel to recommend a restaurant for dinner and they refused, saying they had never heard of any of the restaurants listed in our guide books and the only good place to eat was in their hotel (which had no customers in it the entire evening). Certainly a very different attitude here than in the many other places we stayed during our trip.

We booked five nights here based on the reviews on Trip Advisor and we could not have been more happy with our stay. Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly lady at reception who together with another member of staff took my wife's (heavy) suitcase up to our room on the second floor. We had booked the room with balcony and it was rather luxurious with modern bathroom and contemporary furnishings in the room - the view from the balcony over the old town was great and caught the sun in the afternoon too.
Breakfast was great - lots of food brought to your table, fruit, cheese, bread, cold meats, eggs, yoghurt, honey etc. and great service too. The staff are brilliant and nothing is too much trouble. Even when we accidentally dropped a glass and smashed it, my wife went down to reception to apologise and it was cleared up straight away and we were offered a plate of watermelon and melon which was tasty, refreshing and a lovely gesture.
On the day we left, we had to go early so the kitchen kindly made us up a lunch to take away with us which was very thoughtful. One thing to note is that they don't accept MasterCard just Visa so we paid in cash, for which they gave us an extra discount.
All in all, if we are ever in beautiful Mostar in the future, we will definitely stay at the Motel Emen again.

This must be the best place to stay in Mostar. Staff came down to the end of the road to carry our luggage and greeted us like old friends. The rooms are modern, spotlessly clean and spacious (we had two rooms and so saw both a double and triple). One of the rooms opened to a balcony. The hotel is just at the start of the Old Town and so is very close to the bridge, but not noisy. Perfect. We hope to return.

Best experience ever. This is my first time to Mostar and we rented a car from Dubrovnik. The car broke down halfway on the highway which was still 2 hours away from Mostar. None of the locals speak English so I called Nermina, the manager at Motel Emen in Mostar, with the slightest hope that somehow she could help though we were so far away. Miraculously she sent a friend who is a travel agent in Trebinje called Predrag to pick us up from the highway and put us up in a small cafe to wait for tow truck.

Once we arrived the hotel - they were already waiting. One staff reserved a parking space for us and they helped us move all the luggages to the hotel.

The room (203) was clean, tidy and has an amazing balcony and view. We had breakfast at the hotel which they provided fresh fruits, cheese, cured meat, breads and coffee (with creme).

The staff also made good recommendations on places to visit and was very helpful throughout our stay.

If you are looking for a place to stay in Mostar, look no further. I am not sure why they call themselves a motel.. their service, quality of staff, room condition and food was def worth calling themselves a proper hotel

Room Tip: Get the one with balcony!

A very clean and modern 6 room motel in the very heart of the old town in Mostar. 4 minute walk to the bridge on a very cobbled pathway. Lots of restuarants on the way.

We had room 103 which had a large balcony (not that we used it because it was 44 degrees when we were there). Big room with air conditioning, and fridge. Free internet access.

Staff are very pleasant, eager to please. Cannot fault anything. Exceptional value.

One point to make: for those who say there is no hot water- watch out for the extra switch near the lights, you could be turning the hot water system off!!!!!

Room Tip: room 103 with balcony
