“Great hostel and tour!”
Reviewed December 12, 2013

I had a wonderful time - Zika is the perfect host and the rooms are comfortable and the tour was fantastic and I learnt a lot about Mostar and Bosnia. It's a great place to say and thoroughly recommended!

The staff here are amazing. I have travelled all over Europe and Zika's war tour of the city is among the best, especially as he lived through it in the 90s and could therefore bring it to life. The tours around the surrounding area are also well worth doing - Kravice waterfalls is breathtaking - and me and a friend were also taken to see the local football team, Velez Mostar. Nina was incredibly helpful, and her mother is a diamond. I was made to feel like one of the family for the week. All of the family were helpful with advice about the city and transport, and I got a lift to the bus station when I left.

The hostel itself is clean and well situated, and I was several times offered free burek, coffee, fruit, and other things whenever I was around the hostel.

Zika also owns a bar near the famous bridge, where hostel guests meet, and where I got to meet some of the locals. The beer is also cheap for the drinkers among you.

This was a warm and welcoming city, and Hostel Nina comes highly recommended.

Very comfortable family run hostel. The staff were fantastic. When we arrived we were greeted by the family and given all the information we needed to know to make our time in Mostar memorable.
The Hostel is conveniently located within walking distance of the Old town and the famous bridge.
I knew little of Mostar and its history but I learned so much about the place from my stay at this Hostel. The hostel offers 2 tours. One a Mostar war tour and the other a tourist tour of famous attractions and beauty spots in and outside Mostar. The latter tour providing a traditional Bosnian breakfast in the morning which is delicious and very satisfying. Both tours are fascinating. The staff are extremely friendly and warm making the stay and tours even more enjoyable and comfortable. The owners are more than happy to talk and tell you about Mostar and Bosnia and its history which was deeply fascinating to learn from people who can give first hand accounts on the War tour.
The owners also run a bar in the Old town which is within walking distance of the Hostel. Me and my travelling companions had a great time in this bar every night we stayed in Mostar. It was a very friendly sociable atmosphere and the drinks are extremely reasonably priced for hostel guests. Here we got to know other hostel guests and other mostar locals who were really friendly and good fun to have a drink with. Ziko, a member of the family who runs the hostel met us every night in the bar to serve us drinks and was very entertaining and took the time to get to know us. Ziko also took us on both tours and was entertaining on both tours and throughout our whole stay in Mostar. He even arranged our next accomodation in Sarajevo with a hostel which was just as equally enjoyable to reside in.
The hostel offers to collect you from the train or bus station when you arrive and drop you off when you are leaving all free of charge.
The hostel and rooms are very pretty, clean and comfortable and the family who runs it are more than willing to help improve your stay.
All in all I heavily recommend you stay at this Hostel.

The first thing you will notice if you visit hostel Nina is the extremely friendly and welcoming hosts, Zika and his family will do anything to help you during your stay and will even ring ahead to your next accommodation if you are back packing to make sure your reservations are sorted if you are continuing travelling in area and will drop you off at the local bus station no matter what time of day. On our arrival Zika gave us a brief history of Mostar and his families experiences during the war, and then made an english language documentary available so that we could further understand the Balkan wars and their effects on Mostar. I stayed in a dorm which comfortably slept 9, the room was clean and tidy and the wi-fi reception was excellent. Next door was the also very clean bathroom with a powerful shower with bath. The communal areas such as the kitchen have everything you would expect in a family home. Why I say that it is more than a hostel is because of the very well priced tours that are offered, the first was a walking tour of the city which vists strategic places during the conflict as well as the grave yards of the men , women and children who died, the tour lasts around 4 hours and is both informative and extremely moving due to Zikas expert knowledge of the people and the war. The second tour took a full day and is taken by car with your own personal driver, there was four cars on the day we went. The day starts with a traditional bosnian breakfast, included in the price, that will suit all tastes. The driver then took us to various locations such as a dervish mosque, medjugorje holy site, beautiful waterfalls and finally a medival walled town. The tour was excellent value for money and it was great to see more of the beautiful Bosnian countryside. Our evenings in Mostar were spent in the hosts bar in the town, the bar is used by tourists and locals alike and is a great place to meet and talk to people, id imagine it will be the place to be this summer when Bosnia are playing in the world cup! Its hard when staying at hostel Nina not to fall in love with both Mostar and Bosnia

This was by far the best accommodation we stayed in during summer. We were picked up from the bus station and although we were over an hr late, we were greeted with a smile. The family who owns it are lovely people who make it their goal to make you feel part of the family. They offer amazing walking tours of Mostar (from a real life perspective) which leave nothing sacred and tell it how it really was during the war. They also offer a tour of surrounding attractions including a waterfall and monastery. Rooms and bathrooms are excellent and breakfast is served each morning. It is certainly worth the small fee each night and I would definitely stay at Hostel Nina again. Five stars!!

the location of hostel is good and near the old city centre, like 5-10 mins walk but it could be a bit far from the bus and train station while it takes 20 mins walking and it sits in a kinda hidden corner off-street so it could be tricky to find it when you first arrive. but it also means it's in a quiet place of the city so it's good if you wanna take some rest and have a relaxing place to stay in. it wasn't really a hostel when i was there as most parts of the hostel/house were under rennovation (as they said) so availability was very limited at the time and i didn't meet and see other guests too. The hostel sign on the main street was covered (guess it's because of the rennovation) as another reason being difficult to find. Stayed in a 'dorm' but it's actually a twin room. Hosts (Nina and her mom) were nice enough, Nina's mom even shared a bit of the history of her own, Nina herself was busy taking care of her baby. Generally a nice hostel.
