We stayed for a night but absolutely love this place. Its 3 minutes walk from the bus station so once you know the way to get there (there's no sign) its pretty easy. The hotel owner is really helpful and welcoming, once we got there she offered us with a really nice drink and cookie, then sat down to give us (and other fellow travellers who arrived at the hotel at the same time!) a map of mostar and direct us to the places to see. She even went extra miles to help us call in a cab as we needed to go to the police station..(that's another story!).

We stayed in a four person dorm and nothing to complain. Shower room is super clean and yes, the best shower i had in the trip (as it is a rain-shower!). Serves lovely breakfast too and totally love the setting where i really feel like at home.

Admittedly I was only there for one night but with two full days there I was so impressed. Many of you have probably already heard of "the tour" and if you havn't just go and do it. It is an amazing day out and well worth the cost. In terms of the hostel itself the beds were great, the garden is excellent, the breakfast is much better than most and the hospitality, whilst brusque, is friendly. Would absolutely recommend.

Majdas Hostel is by far one of the best places my husband and I have stayed while travelling. The first night we stayed we had an amazing home cooked meal in their gorgeous little garden. It's a great place to meet other travelers and exchange stories. The room we stayed in was decorated with comfort. It felt like you were staying in a home and not a cement block with squeaky metal bunk beds. With the easy access to the bus station and the center of town the location could not be more ideal.

Room Tip: Do not think twice about going on Bata's tour!

Perhaps it is because we had heard such great things about Majdas that our overall experience ended up being disappointing. Despite having booked in advance we were moved from our beds in the main hostel out into the 'bungalow' for our second night because other people had turned up. The 'bungalow' is a small annex in the garden, with a double bed, a sofa and a single bed crammed in, all of which were occupied, and no bathroom facilities. Considering it is only 2 euros less that staying in the main hostel, this seemed expensive. We probably got a better deal than some though, as some people had to pay the same amount (9 euros) just to sleep on sofas or the floor in the common room. This says a lot for the popularity of the hostel, but many of us agreed that we would have preferred to have been turned away than having this sprung on us. The atmosphere of the hostel is good, and it is probably the ideal choice for someone who is travelling on their own and wants to meet people and it is definitely worth going on one of the tours arranged from the hostel - either the official one or getting a group together to be taken round in a car if that's not running.

This is definitely one of my favourite places that I have stayed at. Such a great atmosphere and I feel so lucky to have came across this place, as it was completely spontaneous. Such a welcoming place with Majda taking us all under her wing and making us feel like one big happy family. The tour with Bata was so fantastic and an absolute must!!! Thoroughly enjoyed my time here and was so great to hear the stories of Bosnia and Herzegovina at first hand.

From the station, it is only a 2 minute walk to the hostel. There we were welcomed with home-made ice tea and explained about the city and were to go. The atmosphere at the hostel is great and Majda makes a really breakfast. I loved the tour with Bata, he is really crazy sometimes but also serious about the war and his personal story.

We stayed at the neighbour's house because we wanted a room for 2 persons, which were not available anymore at Majda's. The stay at Meho's place was great, they were really friendly and helpful. Meho does not really speak English, but his son was there to translate.

The only thing that was a bit of a down side was that it was really hot. In general the temperature in Mostar is really high, but during our stay it was even hot for them (Meho said it was 53°C during the mid-day). I think the hostel did have airco, but there was no airco at Meho's place so during the night it was really hot.

Overall it was a really pleasant stay: nice fellow backpackers, great atmosphere, Majda and Bata are lovely people and the tour is amazing.
