“Never again!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 6, 2011

Awful hotel - Never go there! Its more a ruin than a Grand hotel - The price is much to high, dust everywhere, dirty carpets in the hotel corridor, the door of our room didn't close properly, the window was so dirty - you couldnt see the city outside, also it was not possible to close the window - and believe me Pristina is a very busy city. In the bath some tiles were missing and when I shut the door a powerfuly some more tiles were falling out of the wall, the shower tube was broken when we arrived and inside the toilet you could see some yellow remainings from the 1000 guest before us. The food at the breakfast was not so bad and the people were really friendly - nevertheless they didn't solve our renovation requests until we had some support from some kosovarian friends.
If this hotel would cost 20 Euros a night, I'd say okay, but at a price of 60 Euros... Never again!

Stayed one night at his so-called five star hotel in the centre of Pristina and checked out the next morning. The floor of my room had not been cleaned, the toilet was broken and wouldn't flush, there was smelly grey water in the unplugged fridge, and the window catch was broken and it wouldn't shut.

hotel is shocking especially at 70 eur
its about hostel standard not even that, had no hot water the one night (luckily that was all ) i stayed
stained carpets (beyond belief) holes in the walls, broken doors, broken taps, odd smells, floor that moves as you stand on it , was afraid to use the lifts, words really fail me

basically imagine a once 'nice' building that was abandoned and then inhabited by tramps and vandals and you ll have it spot on

oddly the staff cannot do enough to help you , although booking another hotel would be the best thing they could do

i guess there are no regulations surrounding the 'stars system' in kosovo i would say its zero point 5 rather than 5 stars

avoid

I don't mind the hotel is like 70ties pure. But I mind the ugly, dirty, small, smelly bathroom with broken toilet. I mind dirty windows you can't see through. I mind broken TV. I mind dirty floor. I mind poor light conditions. And I mind having breakfast coffee/juice in a dirty cup.

Many reviews talk about the hotel's presumed past heydays and run down condition of today. I'd echo those thoughts from the portions I saw and the comments I heard. My father and i traveled through Prishtina briefly and spent a few hours in the hotel so i didn't have a lot of opportunity to explore the hotel. Normally i check out most nooks and crannies but i did not have the chance here.

The hotel was expensive for what we received. the room was decent sized, but beds were not overly comfortable. There was sign of deferred maintenance virtually everywhere-pulled up carpets, sockets hanging out of the wall, lights not working, etc.

Breakfast was fine though. It is served in the top floor room, which is a nice glorious old room. Service at the hotel was very nice, as was the English speaking. the staff allowed us to store our bags there after checkout for the day until we headed off to Macedonia, which was very helpful.

Overall, it is interesting staying in one of the communist era hotels for the novelty of it. The staff certainly meets modern standards, but in this case, the Grand hasn't apparently had any money put into its accommodations in a while. As a result, the hotel, in my opinion, is overpriced for what you get (despite the location).
