The NEWBORN sign is easy to find in Prishtina. Take a couple of pics with your family and friends then head on to any of the wonderful cafes.

Nice to see since this is place after the war. Colour changed several times and it is the sign of a new beginning

The Newborn monument is the most recognisable symbol of the recently independent nation of Kosova. Unveiled shortly before the official date of independence after a particularly ugly war and period of persecution by the Serbs this simple, unique and moving monument is the one thing most people think of first when Kosova is mentioned. Surrounded by ugly functional architecture and two spectacularly grotesque buildings just behind (Cambridge Language School and American Institute) the monument is surmounted by advertising hoardings which detract from it somewhat but the power of that single word shines through regardless. This tiny, newly created nation stands tall with this symbol at its capital's heart.

Not intrinsically beautiful this small monument is nonetheless unmissable if you're in this part of the world.

...until they defaced it with graffitie. The monument itself is a piece of modern history of a new country born in ancient Europa!

As others have said, it is nothing special and not hard to miss since it is located in front of a shopping centre and a number of cafes but it means a lot to the people of Pristina as it is symbol of freedom and the birth of their new state. I was living in Kosovo when independence was declared and for me this is a reminder of the celebrations that took place.
