“Great Hotel and make sure to let the boys downstairs make you a cosmo”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2012

In summary, this is a great hotel. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. You could fit about 10 people in the shower at the same time. The breakfast was great. It is close to everything being right in the centre of the Old Town. It has a great little bar/restaurant with a great patio out front. I spent a lot of time there. They make great Cosmos and the service was fantastic. I think I sat there for about 8 hours one afternoon/evening. They didn't even attempt to get me moving even though I was taking up a table of 4. They just kept pouring me more wine. As a solo female traveler, I tell you I really felt very comfortable in and around this hotel. I ended up staying an extra night. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who finds themselves in Kotor.

Room Tip: Cosmos and spring rolls under the patio umbrellas. Take a few moments and treat yourself.

This hotel is fantastic! It's a nice little hotel right in the center. The front desk service is great and they offer ideas and information to their guests. The rooms are lovely and clean. The bathroom even had heated floors!

The hotel is in the old medieval town which is simply quaint and stunning. A lot of history there with many churches and cathedrals to explore. The hotel is an old building that has been sympathectically restored inside to a modern and contemporary standard. I had two different rooms whilst I was there and they both were lovely. The beds are huge and very comfy. The decor is stylish and the bathrooms have beautiful marble patterns all over. The staff were helpful and the cafe area outside is continually packed with visitors and locals alike. The breakfast was OK. Very Italian in style but my only gripe was would have been nicer to have had a wider choice of a hot breakfast available than what there was. I ate there for lunch a couple of times and it was nice. Having the euro there shouldn't put anyone off going to Montenegro as they don't charge (yet) typical euro prices for food and drinks. The local red wine is fantastic too. The beach area is shingle and small but the water incredibly warm. There are several excusions to go on from open top buses and water taxis to other resorts along this costal path. I would reccommend the hotel for an excellent place to be put for all that you may need. 4/5 for my liking.

Room Tip: They have some suites that are available but even my collegues basic rooms were at least adequate in...

The hotel has a perfect location to visit this old town and its beautiful surrounding bay. Since it is in the historical centre, closed to motor vehicles, you will have to carry your luggage on foot to the hotel (do not worry: it is only 50 m). Free parking is available outside the walls of the city for the hotel customers. Rooms are spacious with renovated bathrooms. Fortunately, the acustic insulation is very good since the old town is very noisy at night. Breakfast buffet was simply correct.

Stunning location right at the entrance of the ancient walled city.
Room 209 overlooks the square, but neighbouring room 210 has access to the balcony. Good furninshings, queen size bed, beautiful marble bathroom with Etro toiletry.

Frederic's fixes :
- Brother restaurant Gallion is truly a pick, have the receptionnist offer to make a reservation. Nothing beats that resaruant in Kotor and a little leaflet by the reception isn't enough.
- Reorganise your breakfast area, hotel guests get a dark corner far from the beautiful terrasse, whereas simple pedesrians can sit on the terrassse.
- Breakfast staff should be more attentive and engaging in offering the choice of eggs and warm dishes.

I booked the hotel based on the excellent reviews. I wasn't as impressed as other reviewers.

The desk staff weren't helpful, and offered minimal assistance with questions about the area and recommendations for outings. A language barrier may have played a role, but the desk lady also seemed disinterested.

Though non-smoking, the first room we were booked in smelt of cigarettes. The desk staff was receptive and moved us to another room on our request.

The hotel was not clean. The carpets in the corridors were not vacuumed, and there was a fine white powder along the periphery of the carpets (on the first floor at least).

The room was not vacuumed. The carpets were heavily stained. Both rooms we saw were quite dark. We stayed on the first floor which may have been why. The bedding was very comfortable, and I agree that the bathrooms were swanky and modern. The rest of the decor was dark and dated.

Breakfast was quite nice, continental style with options for hot items such as eggs, french toast, etc.

I got a number of bug bites while I stayed at this hotel. I did inspect for bedbugs, and couldn't see any evidence of the same, however on our last night stay there was a small blood stain on the sheets which made me think there may have been bugs in our room.

Overall, this hotel is more on par with a 3 star hotel by North American standards. I would not recommend it.

Lovely location and very easy to find, just a few paces from the main gate. My husband and I had to move rooms because we thought the air conditioning wasn't working in one (it read 16 but felt more like 24); when we changed rooms there was the same problem and the temperature made it hard to sleep. Staff were friendly but weren't able to do much beyond what we had tried. The room decor was beautiful, but the size was a tad small for the price.
Breakfast was fine, but may not quite suit a western palette.
Nice hotel, but I wouldn't book it for summer weather.
