We loved this place. Food was delicious and drinks seemed like great value - very reasonably priced cocktails went down a treat. Great service and a welcome contrast to a lot of the tourist trap eating destinations in Kotor.

Hotel is 1hr from Podgorica airport, 1.5hrs with summer traffic (10mins faster if taking the highway). You have to park outside the river gate and lug your luggages on the uneven ground for about 1 block. If you have a few luggages I would suggest you take the hotel car (similar price as taxi) and they will call ahead to have someone help you with your luggage. The hotel is only about a year old which means things are still relatively new so it's nicer. Best thing about this hotel is it’s modern and clean and more importantly you get to experience living in an old town.

Rooms - we had a suite so we had a view of the rooftops and Fort walls. The windows are small and the room is extremely dark. The buildings are super close to each other so the lower floors would probably be views of walls and even darker. Obviously the designer for the hotel is more an artistic person rather than a hotel user as designs are quite impractical especially the toilet's glass door without blinds. I see that the trend now is having see through bathrooms and for showers they are still ok, but I really need my privacy using the toilet. There’s also no table or ledge near the sink or shampoo caddy in the shower, only a table in the corner which was quite inconvenient for placing toothbrushes and amenities. The furniture was also configured really awkwardly in the room. You can hear restaurant/bar music and church bells even with windows closed but it didn't bother us that much. What made my stay average was the air conditioning. It was so weak for a "large room" and 35C outside it made our stay quite uncomfortable. Luckily we were only here for 2 days.

Service - the restaurant staff spoke English and service was excellent but the reception's wasn't that great. Service was non-existent so just don't ask for anything and you will be ok. Most reception staff didn't speak English which caused a few problems for us. We were surprised that they didn't have maps of kotor city either, they ask you to go outside to the main gate to get one yourself which we found was just by the counter for self pickup. In that case there are so many ways for them to maybe get a few for their guests? Otherwise by the time you walk out you would have missed all the sites and have to go backwards. I suggest waking straight out to the Gurdic gate and you would only pass by a prison and a church then go outside around the wall and come back in the main gate. Also recommend walking around outside the dock area at night, the view of old town wall when lit up is really nice.

Restaurant - food and service were surprisingly good, however we had to return a dish being way too salty. Also if you have certain preferences on dishes such as steak, fish etc order ahead as they ran out even when we are the only and first people at the restaurant. Recommend reservations for their rooftop bar, which church bells ringing every hour it was really charming. Our meal took 3hrs so go earlier if you need to sleep early. Breakfast was excellent and you can order anything you like.

I tried to find nicer hotels in Kotor but unfortunately this is the nicest one (modern and clean), so even though I didn’t love the hotel I think this is the best choice considering location unless you stay outside in Budva or Porto Montenegro.

We have just spent one night at this beautiful little hotel. The interior design is beautifully done,a stunning blend of old and new, the attention to detail faultless. Lovely rooms, fabulous showers ,
delicious breakfast on the roof terrace and charming staff. Would have loved to have stayed longer!

Rooms are brand new and intricately designed

Service was fantastic

Breakfast was really good!

Location is in the middle of old town, could have been a little closer to the main gate and parking, but no real complaints

Just returned from a week here and had a fantastic time. Very little to fault about the experience and the hotel hippocampus and their service, although I think a few teething problems that I'm sure all new hotels experience. The main one was when we flew into Dubrovnik we were meant to have a car waiting for us to take us to Kotor. There was no one there and when we phoned to speak to someone at the hotel the person at the desk spoke no English and another person we spoke to just told us to get a cab! Eventually it transpired that the person picking us up was delayed at the border and turned up about an hour later.

Wasn't a big deal but we had no message to say delayed and no one could confirm whether there was a car on it's way so left us all a bit flustered to start the hols off. However when arrived the charming and very jovial manager Ranko greeted us and from there it was all positives!

The room was very large and well laid out with a great mix of old features and modern. The food is fantastic and served with real poise and friendliness by Ranko, Igor and Nikola. Hotel is perfectly positioned in the old town and there is a great wine bar next door. Can be noisy at night but all music has to stop by 1am so not too bad.

Only other small criticisms is that the hotels services and guidebook in the room needs to be a bit more comprehensive, at breakfast it would be nice to have a menu to peruse rather than being asked what you want (particularly if you aren't quite awake like me!) and also they need to make sure that the person on reception speaks English. Zana is great but for much of the time there was a young girl who whilst very smiley didn't speak a work of English. Feel bad saying is at we don't speak the local language either but it would have been nice to have someone to ask where to go, what to see. Also when we arrived at the hotel she didn't tell us anything about the hotel, the room or even where it is, she just handed us the key.

In any case despite these small things this is a lovely hotel which gives you a really privileged position in the old town. I think that as every month goes by the hotel will get better and better and they deserve it because we did get the feeling they really want to be the best in Kotor.

Room Tip: A higher room is less noisy but all rooms are lovely and very spacious

Only stayed one night and did not want to leave. Staff could not do enough for you, helpful and friendly. Rooms were unique, very clean and charming. Breakfast to die for you must try the home made jam plum and raspberry. Cocktails on the roof on a beautiful hot evening enchanting.

Stayed there for 3 nights during my first time visit to Tivat. The hotel is located within the Kotor Old Town. If you book directly online, it provides pick up and drop off services from their hotel, which saves you about 20 Euros together. Got placed in a 2nd floor room. The room is spacious and lovely decorated. Since it's situated inside the old town, it makes it very easier to pretty much go to any sightseeing spots or restaurants you want. The breakfast in the hotel is superb and I would say that it's the BEST one I have ever had in my life. I also took the chance to try out the dinner there and it was equally impressive.

The hotel director was exceptionally helpful and the staff at the F&B are very professional and nice. However, the front desk staff seems to be a bit aloof and didn't seem too enthusiastic to receive guests. Also, I am not sure whether it's the level of their English or some other reason that they didn't speak much, especially when asked about activities around the area. It is the only disappointment that I had during my stay.
