A very good hotel with rooms which are more than spacious (attached to this review you will find pictures of Junior Suite (Room 16, 4th floor)). Staff of the hotel is always helpful and always smiling. Food is very nice (even though for some it may seem overpriced), 24-hour service and some very good bottles of Crimea wine in their Horatzio restaurant. We've also tried their hammam and salty room, which can also be recommended.
My husband and I liked this hotel very much and would definitely recommend it to everyone, especially during low season as the prices go down quite a lot which is always nice ))

My wife and I stayed in the Villa Elena for one night as part of a quick side trip to Yalta from Kiev. We had arranged for an English speaking guide in advance, who met us with a driver at the Simferopol airport and accompanied us to Sebastopol and Yalta. It must be said that it would be difficult to tour in this area without an English speaking guide. The operational language of the area is Russian, with Ukrainian as a back up. English is not widely spoken here. We arrived at about 9PM at Villa Elena after a long day of touring in the area; a baggage porter met the car as we arrived and we were checked in in good time, and our bags delivered to the room very expeditiously. The room was really a small apartment with a kitchenette, breakfast table, lounging area and king bed nook, equipped with some dishes and silverware, minibar with complimentary water on the counter. The room was immaculate. The bathroom design was chic (new) early twentieth century with a stand alone bath tub with shower attachment and (new) toilet with the old style pull-chain operating lever. Internet was easy to access and speed was fast. Everything worked. Hot water with good pressure. The bed provided us with a good rest. The hotel was very quiet and comfortable and we had a small balcony with a chair and a spectacular view of the mountains behind the Black Sea area and view of the Golden Spires of an Orthodox church. An item of charm is an ancient elevator, still working from the early 20th century, which goes only to the 4th floor of the 5 floor building. We had breakfast, cooked to order in a garden outside the front of the building. Our guide joined us for breakfast and the hotel's General Manager sat and visited with us for a half hour or so in fluent and grammatically perfect English. He is a young, very polished hotel industry professional and takes his work seriously. After breakfast our guide took us on a very thorough and interesting walk of the "strand"..... a couple of miles walk along the bathing beaches' area. The weather was warm and there were many bathers.....the place was hopping but not over crowded during this early September period. A word about our guide: Her name is Anastasiya Lazo (nickname "Asya"}; she is a young, energetic, enthusiastic and attractive woman from a western Ukraine city. She spent a year in Anchorage, Alaska as an exchange high school student, which accounts for her very fluent and current English. She is also fluent in Russian and Ukranian. She is a terrific asset, showed us everything we asked to be shown and was wonderful company for us. For any non Russian or non Ukranian speaker who is visiting in Ukraine, I can and would highly recommend her services. She can be contacted at email: [----] or cell: [-----]. The entire Crimea area is rich in history and culture. Yalta has been an extremely popular playground for wealthy Russians/Ukrainians for 200 years. Villa Elena is a great place to spend time while there in that special area....a high quality and elegant property. A word about pricing. Hotel prices in Kiev and in Yalta are extremely high, especially in the luxury end. Villa Elena is no exception and is expensive by north American standards, but not necessarily by local standards. The previous reviewer charged that the rates had been misrepresented to him prior to his arrival. This most assuredly was not the case with us. We knew and had accepted the price. We would highly recommend this property to friends, while ensuring that they understood its high end pricing in the context of what other high end properties in the area cost. This is an extraordinarily interesting and beautiful area of Europe and one apparently not heavily frequented by north Americans.

of booking manager. I was looking for a nice place in Yalta to spend time with my husband in the end of September. The hotel's web-site is breathtaking and stated that the high season is over on 26 September (now they currepted the whole part with prices) and deluxe room is 180 Euro opposed to 330 Euro during high season.
I dial the booking number and discussed with the manager whether there are deluxe rooms at the price of 180 Euro available and after a confirmation on her side asked to get a booking form. I cannot express my surprise when I received a booking form with a price twice as much to what I expected. My attempt to find out what the reason for such dramatic increase was failed, the manager told me that she CLEARLY stated that the room is 330 Euro. Leaving aside the fact that it is not professional to fool out the client (i am not an idiot and remember what I talk about with people) I was disappointed by the arrogance of the hotel staff which claims to be one of the best in the area. The answer to my question whether it was a mistake at their web-site was - the season is extended till 3 October and due to inefficiency of the company servicing the web-site the information has not been updated.
This tricky pricing policy and ability to handle clients quiries and total arrogance made me seak for another accomodation as the first contact with the hotel left me with an impression - if the booking is so bad what the service on-site is and whether my get away is forth risking. The attempt to book a different place in the same segment was more successful.
Training of personel is a must for all places who are servicing clients, this place is not the case I assume. Keep away from unprofessionals.
