Look out for citizens' sculptured portraits running around the cathedral (read up on how they came to be)

Like many cathedrals in Europe, St James was very beautiful. Certainly worth the time to visit, if you are in the area.

We visited the cathedral on our trip to Sibenik. It was a lovely church with very involved and detailed history. Our guide was wonderful and told us many interesting facts about the history of the church. There are faces/heads carved on the exterior of the church. The story is these were the people who did not contribute to the cost of building the cathedral (crude rendition; your guide will explain in greater detail). We thought that part was quite humorous since its a church and you'd assume they were saints. Your shoulders and knees must be covered to enter the cathedral and you must remove your hat (FYI). Additionally, make sure you have money to use the toilets. The local currency is kuna, and the button to flush is on the very top (slightly hidden).
