“a great experience”
Reviewed October 7, 2009

A small hotel located on the peninsular west of the old city. There is a swimming beach immediately outside. The bus to Zadar (10 mins) is nearby. There is a restaurant on the ground floor and two floors of rooms most with good sea views. No elevator, but staff carried the bags up and down.

Staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke very good English.

The room was large and well presented. A small balcony enabled al fresco meals brought up from the restaurant.

Breakfast was excellent among the best we have had. The restaurant was excellent also.

Free Wifi on unsecured network.

This hotel offers a very good service for reasonable price. Downturns were the distance to the city center and the quite stony beach in front.

Otherwise the restaurant is very good, the breakfast very good, the rooms very spacious and clean.

Good hotel.

The renovation works are over by the way.

This hotel is ok. A bit far from the city centre (over 30 minutes walk), though this area has some interest and there seem to be a number of hotels nearby. Decor is acceptable but a bit dated. The room, however, was clean, and shower good. There is no lift, and no assistance to lift luggage up the stairs. Breakfast was good (including excellent coffee), but the price was very high (130 euros) so quite a lot for what you got.

Stayed in mid-June 2009. The hotel was not fully open and was undergoing renovation. We weren't affected at all by the work. The room was very nice - traditional style. Perfectly clean and well looked after with good balcony. Staff were nice and friendly and spoke English. Breakfast was 10 out of 10 - one of the best we've ever had. The hotel restaurant was very good also. Would recommend this one

We had been recommended Hotel Niko which is in a quiet area of Zadar by the sea and overlooks the old town. Its main draw is its resturant which is favoured by locals...that says it all. When we booked we were disappointed to learn that the resturant was undergoing 'restoration' but they hoped it would be finished by the time we arrived (late May). Arriving late evening, we had difficuly identifying it as a hotel. Far from being ready, the hotel was a building site with the whole of the front removed! No lights along our corridor as the power had been turned off and in the confusion we we were taken to an occupied room! Woken next morning by a power drill. That being said, once it is finished it looks likely to be a lovely small hotel and should be worth a visit.

We spent a week in Zadar last month and stayed at the Hotel Niko and ate every night in their wonderful restaurant. Staff were first class, friendly and spoke English. (Wanted to take "our" waiter Josef home with us but had to settle for him agreeing to come to England and we would show him London!) Food great. Very comfortable beds, modern and clean bathroom, balcony overlooking harbour. Short bus ride into old town of Zadar and lots of nice places to walk after dinner each night, along beautiful coastline. Weather was fantastic - only rained once for half an hour then returned to a bright sunny and warm place where people were very friendly. Travelled courtesy Ryanair then quick bus ride into town (or taxi can be arranged by hotel). Lots of great places nearby to visit - try Nin a 20 minute bus ride north, where their ancient kings were crowned in the tiniest First Century cathedral - breath taking scenery. Will definitely return to see the national parks - north for the lakes, mountains and waterfalls and to the islands and waterways. Beautiful place.

This hotel is unusual in that it looks like it is only a restaurant but has great hotel rooms above. There is free parking out front. The room was a good size, air conditioned and with a balcony overlooking the sea. There was free internet in the room. Beware that hotels in Croatia do not have any facial tissue like Kleenex! The breakfast was great with fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, bread, etc. and was served to the table not a buffet. There was a beach out in front of the restaurant/hotel but, like almost all beaches in Croatia, it was full of rocks so bring water shoes. It is a very long walk to the old town of Zadar so would recommend taking the bus. The front desk staff was very helpful - some spoke better English than others.

  • Liked — The balcony and the breakfast.
  • Disliked — The distance to the old town of Zadar.
