We only spent a day at the hotel and could not have found the staff more helpful and friendly. This applies to the reception staff, waiting staff and anybody else we met, We had a lovely lunch, good food and good service, and various drinks during the day.
We thought the hotel had the perfect location, with its own pool but so close to th sea and within a short walk of the town.

We didn't stay here, but popped in for lunch one day as we were staying nearby.

The prices are more expensive than you'd think, given the hotel looks quite dated from the outside. We assumed that given the high prices, the food would be of a higher standard. This was most definitely not the case.

I ordered lasagne, and was presented with a sad, microwaved portion of old pasta sheets. Dry, with little or no sauce or effort to present it on the plate. Truly awful.

My other half ordered a simple tuna salad. This arrived saturated in olive oil. Literally, saturated in the stuff. It was barely edible and the ingredients had to be fished out of the pool of oil. It was supposed to be accompanied by egg, it included none. It was really miserable looking.

Wouldn't be recommending this place for food in a hurry, many better options in the Old Town, and much more reasonably priced. I would say however, the lady who served us was very friendly and courteous. The only saving grace!

We stayed in this hotel overnight on our way to Krk from Dubrovnik. Its position could not be any better, it is outside the city walls and thus away from the touristy hoard and yet near enough to walk to the centre and back again - the hotel is on the seafront just 10-15 minutes stroll to town. And what peace it is to walk back to the hotel after a great night out in the centre. Zadar was absolutely bustling when we were there! Not much can be said about the quality of our accommodation though. This hotel is pretty basic and seems to be stuck in that 60s style. Nevertheless, the beds were comfortable (OK so all I need is a good night's sleep, so never mind that the shower head mount was loose and would not stay up, there was plenty of hot water and clean thick towels). The staff at reception were all friendly and efficient, there's a lot of them behind the desk to help you. This hotel seems designed for coach tours as there were busloads of tourists being dropped off when we arrived and piles of suitcases being delivered to individual rooms on our floor. This was confirmed at breakfast when even at the early time of 7:30am, the breakfast room was packed with people of the same age group who ate and then left en masse. A buffet breakfast is included in the room tariff, but it is nothing to write home about (very average, just right for non-discerning folks on coach tours I suppose). I must admit i thought the croissants here were the best I've tasted on our travels, and i loved the amarillo cherry juice on offer. I didn't bother with the hot bain-marie as everything was so predictable: bacon, scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, fried onions (?) etc. Thank god for the filtered coffee though...

No regrets staying in this hotel for the night, the location is good, it has a huge secure parking area (this must be for all those coaches, but having access to a safe car park was one less stress for us), efficient staff and comfortable beds. For a short stay, this'll do me.

Not good at all. Knowing the service in Croatia and the hotels along the coast, this wasn't the worst choice, but definitely would not recommend it to anybody. They are just stuck in time. Not a 4 star level at all. Poor service.

This hotel is in a great location, close to the wonderful old city and right on the beach. I loved the feel of this place.
The character of the hotel is from a different era with a slight feeling of "the shining" about the decor.
It was immaculately clean and in perfect condition. I had a good room with a view of the coast over the pool area.
Great shower but flakey wifi.
The breakfast was varied and generous and very good value.
I liked this hotel and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Don't expect a slick modern experience and you'll like this place.
I'm going back soon.

It was late when I arrived in Zadar so I asked a well dressed customer at a gas station where I should stay. The hotel is huge with a multitude of tourist buses in the parking lot. Staff were polite and helpful. The place is dated but clean with free parking right outside. OK it's not my normal kind of place but the price was right and it filled the need!

I must admit to being baffled by some of the other reviews for this hotel. I stayed there in May with a group of six friends from Friday to Sunday. We had three twin rooms and one single. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The shower was powerful and the water as hot as you wanted it. The TV was modern [but who cares we weren't there to watch telly]. And above all the staff, all of the staff, were pleasant, welcoming, smiling, helpful and professional. Breakfast was fine. Bacon [a tad streaky but still bacon], eggs [boiled, fried, poached, scrambled], cold meats, cheese, cereals, fruit, yoghurt - what more do you want? If anything I would describe it as a holiday hotel trying to maximise its income through conference and function bookings. But even so we found it to be clean and well maintained and in a great location, 20 minutes from the airport, on the beach front and a leisurely 15 minute stroll from Zadar Old Town. Hotel rooms [as opposed to apartments and expensive boutique hotel rooms] are difficult to find in Zadar so close to the Old Town. In my opinion Kolovare provides very acceptable accommodation at reasonable rates.
