After we booked a number of rooms for a conference, the hotel claimed overbooking, although admitting we were first, and cancelled half of the rooms without explanation or any attempt to help us find rooms elsewhere. Since there was no time to take our business elsewhere, we kept the rooms we got. These rooms were small, with screens on the balcony blocking the view (a most strange architectural feature), yet clean. The breakfast was mediocre, a buffet table of not the best ingredients. The hotel rating of four stars is simply inexplicable. The overall feel you get in the hotel is bad management, cutting corners and patching up flaws, instead of having an energetic approach to tourism. Socialism still lingers in all the corners, and it will take a good airing to make it a hotel for the modern guest.

Despite the age of the hotel (> 30 years) it still looks nice. Nice and clean pool, however no bar facilities. Wanting a drink takes you two stairs ...
At the time I was over (having a conference) there were lots of seniors around (either private or with a bus tour). The hotel seems to be popular.
Rooms are okay, not too large. So is the bathroom. Many TV stations (including CNN, Italian and German broadcasts). Free Wifi (sec. code from the front desk).
Breakfast buffet is okay, with more than enough choices. So was our buffet lunch. No experiences with hotel dinner. I wouldn't recommend eating in the hotel anyway. Downtown ZADAR are many nice restaurant (Italian food is the favorite).

Hotel personnel doesn't know how to laugh ... Many senior servants.

Room Tip: I had room 141 (ground floor). Restaurant is is the basement (together with access to swimming pool...

We took a driving holiday through Croatia and in most cities finding our hotel was a breeze – there were signs on the side of the road directing you to the hotel. So we knew we were in the vicinity of the hotel but the Kolovare didn’t really have a sign that is visible from the roadway – we must have driven past it a good five times before we went into a convenience store almost right next door to ask for directions. So make sure you have a GPS.

Once we found the hotel though we found it to be in a great location – free parking meant we could leave the car and walk along the water into town which at sunset was really lovely. Once in town we sat by the sea organ for a while which was out of this world.

The rooms were clean, the bathroom was quite modern and new-ish (with a shower over bath combination) though the rest of the room was a little dated.

Our room had a very pleasant outlook looking over the pool and the sea.

Breakfast was pretty average unfortunately, so we’d recommend eating out.

Recently stayed for a week on business. Stayed in several rooms as electrical problems forced a couple of moves on my first night. Determined that some rooms are nicer and more spacious than others (without much rhyme or reason). Some hold outdated and poorly maintained bathrooms while others are quite nice and recently updated.

All staff friendly and helpful, but I must agree with other reviews that rate the breakfast offering as fair or poor. The free WiFi and business center access were most helpful throughout the trip.

The location is excellent for a walk into the city center, and a large supermarket / the central bus station is just 3-4 blocks away.

For a "tourist bus" hotel it was fine. The breakfast wasn't much. It was late in the season so the pool was closed but you couldn't walk around because of broken glass. It was walking distance from the bus station and to the old town - that was good.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view or balcony.

It's a pity that such a great hotel has such a poor management, which allows itself to use the hotel's good facility to offer a poor service at the breakfast buffet. Went there on a business trip, and needed a good room and a good breakfast near the city. Good room I got, spacious enough, with a beautiful view of the sea, with nice bathroom. And besides, the hotel is spot on the beach, 10-15 minutes of fabulous walk from the old city on a peninsula but also 10-15 minutes walk from the business areas. However, cannot take it for granted that a breakfast buffet could not be better for this price. The hotel management business is not about selling the rooms, but about selling the service. There were nice waiters hopping around a really poor buffet table, trying to do the most with the least offered... With this superbly positioned location and such great architecture of the hotel, it's a real pity that there is a lack of a good management to raise this hotel's offer to a higher level.
Otherwise, the hotel is totally recommendable. A low rank goes to the management!

Room Tip: Opt for a room with the sea view and at the wing ends!
