It is a bed place to stay because you can't have fun there and you will stay hungry. In the evening night guard would tell you to go somewhere else to have small talks with your friends or other gests of hostel, you can't sing or play any instrument. But if someone gives him to drink it is different story, he is your friend now, and than you can be laud at very late hours. And if you are an important person to director you can do everything, and what you think is very important to her, no metter what is true. And about food, very poor portions. I think that the little children in the kindergarden have bigger portions. You mast go to shoop and by some sandwich to not be hungry any more. And in the salat you can find some insects, in rice some worms...
If you not in need don't go there.

Well if let people talk loud, play music and sing all night long, other guest can not sleep and that is the main purpose of the hostel. The 'friendly' night guard is now replaced by professional security service. The insects, worms and other food related remarks are exaggerations since the front staff takes their meals queuing among the guests.

The people at the hostel were very nice, except when we gave them our room key to keep while we went to the beach, they misplaced it and one of them didn't believe us that we gave them the key. (They found it eventually) The room was nice and the bathroom was also clean.
The location of the hostel is great because you can take the bus to oldtown Zadar which is 8 Kuna and takes only a few minutes. And there is also the possibility to go to the beach.
They offer free breakfast in the mornings which was basic but good. They don't have any coffee which I thought was odd.
You can be lucky and find a parking space right in front of the hostel.

This hostel is a 30 minute walk from old town but there's a regular bus service so not that inconvenient. The dorms sleep six and it was half empty when I was there so no big problem. En suite bathroom is only €1.50 more so take it! Breakfast is basic (hot chocolate & bread). Bar is simple but good for meeting people. Benefit of location is that you can go 5 minutes and then you're on rocky beach for swim.

This is a totally adequate hostel but nothing special. They are part of the Hosteling International association, so you'll need to have a membership card or expect to pay a few dollars extra. But even then I think our total was only about $22 (USD) a night. Breakfast was included but it was just bread and jam and--oddly--hot chocolate. They have other beverages available for a fee.

The hostel seems really big. It sleeps like 300 and there were several different buildings in the whole hostel complex. Unfortunately, this makes it feel a little like a college dorm or military barracks. And while the rooms were clean and nice enough, the hallways were like an echo chamber. So when a group of rowdy and drunken boys were trying to convince their annoyed roommates to unlock the door, I heard every word of the conversation.

Our guidebook told us that there is a recently remodeled portion of the hostel that is quite a bit nicer but we didn't stay in that part so I don't know how much nicer it is.

We were there in the off season so there wasn't a lot of socializing, but it was hard for me to see where any socializing would take place anyway--I didn't see a common area and the staff was efficient but not overly friendly.

The location is a quick bus ride from town or a longish walk (fine for anyone is reasonably used to walking) and even though the previous reviewer tries to warn you off of Zadar, I think the town has its charms. I don't know that I would go out of my way to go there, but considering that the bus to Plitvice is on the Zagreb-Zadar route, I think Zadar is a great "no back-tracking" stop for those who want to go from Zagreb to Plitvice and then south. I didn't need more than one night there but I was glad I went.

This hostel is the cleanest hostel I have ever stayed in. Amazing! Their beds are better than those I have at home. It is near the main beach, and located in the nice part of the city....However, it is a 30 min walking distance from the center.
The only complaint about this hostel itself is a lack of fun and slow staff.

And one more thing I would like to say to all of you who are going to Croatia, which is my home country. There are many better places than Zadar...there you will not find a nice beach, it is dirty and crowded..oh..so crowded...( btw. u have to pay the entrance which is ridiculous)....night life is not a big deal either. My suggestions for all of you who enjoy the nature and undiscovered places is to go to islands, especially Cres (don't miss a small place called Lubenice, and go to a beach called Orlec too) and Hvar. Avoid islands and places around Zadar. It is not even close to all the southern areas of Croatia. All the southern islands and the land area called Makarska riviera are just beautiful.
