The location is great, just a few steps from the main square in this beautiful old town. The apartment is pretty large as well and quite well equipped. The balcony is on the plus side.

On the minus side there are a couple of things: third floor without a lift, the apartment is dark and the bed in the other bedroom is quite narrow.

The host was very kind, but was not able to give good advises about restaurants and clients seemed to be not that important for him. The map of the city in the apartment would also be a big advantage for clients who are staying in the city just for a short period. On the other hand the tourist office very close, but still. Some little things could make a difference when the apartment is not that fancy. Like maps, maybe fresh pastry in the morning and so on...

Booked via booking.com (~$150AUD p/night) and the owner, Kristian, was very prompt and helpful in replying to email and SMS with queries on how to find the apartment etc. You pick up the keys from Frederica Grisognona 5 (or just outside the main walls at a stall near carpark and jetty). A representative (in our case, a very helpful English speaking young lady) walks you to the apartment and shows you everything.

Apartment is in a good location right across from the beach and 4 min walk to the Sea Organ and Sun Salutation area (great spot to spend the evening). About 2 -3 min walk to main street of Old Zadar town. Cars can park around perimeter of the town but not drive the main streets. This works well and we parked our hire car not far away for the night.

Apartment has 3 good sized bedrooms (one bedroom is very large with a couch and table), a kitchen, bathroom with toilet and another, separate toilet. The shower is a hand held over a deep bath; soap and towels supplied but not shampoo. There is a washing machine in the good sized bathroom. Apartment has a decent balcony overlooking trees to the beach area.

There is a small TV in the dining area.

There is a lounging chair in one bedroom but there is no lounge room as such which was a little odd given it is a 3 BRM apartment. That being said we didn’t need it anyway and sitting at the dining table was perfectly fine for our group.

The apartment was clean and dust free so no issues with whomever is cleaning. We all agreed that our beds were very comfortable.

No tea/coffee or basics provided though so bring your own. Another thing noticed was there were no instructions or welcome booklet for how to use appliances or what is available in the area.

My ‘improvement’ comment is the apartment is lacking some common and easy maintenance; in that bedroom doors and kitchen door ‘squeak’ a fair bit – something that a little soap or WD40 may fix. The apartment needs a lick of paint and some minor spruce ups to make it more attractive but in terms of ‘fit for purpose’ for short stays it does still fit the bill.

My rating of 'average' for Service is based on the overall lack of instructions within the apartment or anything that told you what was nearby, etc. Kristen himself gets 5 out of 5 for his personal contact with us in arranging the stay.
