We stayed for 11 nights and enjoyed very much. We had a 2 bed apartment which was spacious, air conditioned and had everything you would require for a self-catering holiday. Any extras we required were supplied on request including beach mats etc. The owners are on-site and are very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. They also supplied some lovely garden produce from their grandfather's garden including melon, tomatoes, peppers and even some delicious Dalmatian dry cured ham and homemade wine, all complimentary! Lovely people. The location is good too, being about 300 metres from the seafront, it's not on the main road so doesn't have passing traffic or late night people passing by. We felt very much at home and we will return soon, hopefully.

Great value for money, SO MUCH SPACE. Run by a lovely young lady who keeps it spotless and is so kind and helpful. We loved staying here. If we come back to Zadar we will definitely book again!
You have to be prepared to walk a little to the beach, and there is not much else closeby so a car is handy (although the bus is pretty good too!)

Room Tip: We had an apartment that could sleep 4 all to ourselves and it was STILL great value!

Stayed at the Villa for three nights last weekend and were made to feel really welcome. We finally arrived at the Villa after a 6 hour coach journey from Pula (Ryanair pilots don't land in the rain so refused to land at Zadar). We reached Zadar after midnight but Maria was waiting for us and met the car as we pulled into the drive. In the apartment the first question she asked was 'are we hungry?' Obviously we were, but under the agreements of her business she isn't allowed to commercially serve food - within 5 minutes she had literally emptied the contents of her fridge and brought them up to us to help ourselves, which we gratefully did. No payment was expected nor offered - but that simple act of kindness (which we weren't expecting), saved the day.

The one bedroom apartment was spacious and spotlessly clean - It was meant for four people and so some may think it a bit expensive for 2 when taken in the context of the general standard of living in Croatia, but it was not much more expensive than the other places we stayed, and we did have much more space here. It was very quiet, which is exactly how we like this sort of break.

The villa is set about 100 metres from the sea front in Diklo, which is a residential suburb of Zadar, about 7km from the centre. A very reliable and clean bus service runs along the front every half hour and we decided to use this rather than take the car into Zadar itself.

There are several restaurants and a couple of bars in Diklo, but if you were staying more than a few nights you may feel the need to travel into the centre for some variety, and life.

Would I stay there again? Absolutely.

My family and I stayed here for 2 nights. Very comfortable, clean, warm and peaceful place. It's very good for adults who travel with kids to have some privacy. =)
The apartment is little far from the center and I think that here is good who have car. I don't know about public transport to the center.
The owner Maria is very friendly and treat us very well, she gave us a map and explained about points of Zadar.
I would come back here easily.

We stayed 2 nights here in a very spacious and well appointed apartment. We were greeted by a young gentleman of 17 years who was very polite and helpful, showing us maps, giving us directions and suggesting restaurants. Both he and his sister made us very welcome. The apartment was very clean, modern and comfortable. Not within walking distance of the old town but there's a bus nearby if you don't have a car. Our apartment had 2 bedrooms and a large bathroom. Balcony off the living area. Great place to stay as it's only minutes (walking) from the water.

Highly recommend this place for any kind of stay - short, long, family, friends... We have just returned from 2 weeks in Zadar. We rented the biggest apartment of this villa on the ground floor with a separate entrance, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sitting room with big TV and DVD player, kitchen/dining room with fully equipped kitchen (including a dishwasher!), WiFi that was working pretty well (unlike some other places we stayed around the world). For the group of 6 that apartment was more than enough :-)) but we like to vacation in comfort! Apart from having all the comforts, it is also only 5 minutes walk from the beach - not the huge sandy monstrosity filled with screaming crowds but an intimate series of pebble spots along the cleanest sea I have ever seen. I would advise still to get swimming shoes, as there are some pretty big stones when you go into the sea (but no dangerous sea creature, do not worry!). However, the best feature of this villa is Maria and Simon - children of the owner who are running this place fabulously! They made this vacation very comfortable and enjoyable for us - gave all kinds of advice about what to see and where to go, treated us to the home-grown vegetables brought from their family farm as well as their grandfather's wine (which was really good!). Couple of times we had BBQ dinners together (cooked by Simon and the meat bought from their father's shop - very fresh and great quality!) - they became real friends for us. When we got into a small road accident (on our very first day on the way to the villa - Maria dropped everything and rushed to the place to help us sort it out. Well, you get the picture! If you chose Villa Zaratina, I am sure you will not regret!
