Unlike a lot of tourist destinations Zadar has renovated and revamped its city water front without selling out to cheap commercialism. The sea organ is a beautiful mix of nature, modern design and traditional architecture that blends seamlessly into its surroundings. This really is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been, the people are warm and welcoming, food is superb, drinks are cheap and at night the area around the sea organ is alive with families, couples and people having fun.

We happen to come on a day when it was very windy and the waves were hitting the beach pretty hard. As a result the sea organ was "playing" very loudly. The sounds that the ocean created were so amazing and relaxing. We sat right in front of the sound vents for 45 minutes and listened to it and gazed at the beautiful view. Absolutely the best thing to do in this little city!

This is such a cool idea. The promenade itself is wide and inviting with benches and palm trees. The Sea Organ is made of pipes under the stone steps and when the waves of the sea push the air into the pipes, the varied sounds come out of another set of holes on the promenade. So the sea plays the organ. The sounds can be haunting or melodic. We sat for a while and just enjoyed the gorgeous sea and the relaxing sounds of the Sea Organ. Zadar has a number of attractions that make it an ideal day trip if you are in the area. The town is a peninsula and just about everything you want to see us within walking distance of the small harbor or the train and bus stations.
