Kolega is in the centre of the old town and a perfect and economical base for exploring Zadar.The owner Marin is so helpful and accomodating offering much local knowledge and tips on value for money, pating taxis and ...how not to get ripped off..Beware if stairs are a problem for you as its on the third floor .Rooms(3) are spotless and also has a spotless shared bathroom and lounge /kitchen-dining area.Wifi was excellent and lots of maps and books if you are unfamiliar with the area.The place is quiet and a quick walk from the sea where you can swim off the steps of the Sea Organ or dive off the pierhead into amazingly warm, clear warm water and watch the amazing sunsets.There are tourists but thes soon depart and the small peninsula town is relaxed ,charming with many diversions to suit all interests.
The Arsenal and Garden Bar/terrace are nearby where there is a great buzz ,as well as tiny, quiet out of the way places yet all near the sea.Quite a few little marts to but food for al fresco dining or so many decent restaurants to choose from.
Dont get ripped off by the taxis at the airport as a bus will take you to the bus station at the edge of the old town and either a short walk or quick taxifrom the bus stationwill save you lots of Kuna!!Ask to get let off at Tri Bunara(3 wells) and it is a couple of minutes walk past the Roman forum and main street.Would love to have stayed longer but had a lot of Croatia ahead of us.

I arrived in Zadar 'on spec' and soon found myself walking through the cobbled streets of the Old Town on the 'Zadar Peninsula' with the Roman Forum as my destination. I passed street cafes and artists, women selling embroidery and lace, the sun sparkled on the Adriatic as I gazed out West. There are lots of Apartments and other types of accommodation in this area, I had selected the Kolega Guesthouse mainly on a potential value for money basis.
The greeting I received when I arrived was warm and friendly, the owner spoke good English and my room had air conditioning, for which I was grateful. The bathroom was pristine, with fresh smelling towels, nice soap, and literally squeaky clean tiles. The location is quiet, and the fact that the rooms are upstairs adds to the calm. Kolega Guesthouse has a "Self Catering" kitchen, free internet and a comfortable lounge area. Easy going hospitality is the order of the day, one is able to relax here, the owner is very knowledgable, and keen to share intersting facts and stories about this rather beautiful and historic region.
All in all a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Highly recommended. Excellent value for money...!!!!

We needed an overnight stop en route to one of the islands. Very convenient for town and ferries. Deluxe room was a generous size, clean and well furnished. Wifi worked. We could not have been made more welcome. Very helpful and excellent English spoken.
