“Good value, great service”
Reviewed August 7, 2009

We added Zadar to our honeymoon itinerary at the last minute, and Hotel Porto was one of the few hotels in the city that had any rooms left. Our room was rather basic, but comfortable, quiet, and quite clean. We had a rental car with GPS (I highly recommend!), so we found the hotel rather easily, and found that the hotel is just a five-to-ten minute drive from the center of town. I can certainly see how those traveling without a car would've been put off by the location and the distance from the heart of Zadar. The "industrial" location didn't bother us, since we didn't get any noise from the nearby construction, and since we spent most of our time touring the nearby area anyway. The hotel staff was unfailingly kind and friendly, and when our passports were stolen (during a tour, not at the hotel!), they helped us navigate the local police station to report the incident. They also had some very good restaurant recommendations. We can't wait to return to Zadar, and when we do, we will definitely consider another stay at the Hotel Porto.

Don't choose this hotel if you're going in summer, as the tiny air conditioning unit can't cope with the ample sized rooms. The hotel is relatively new and looks good but I couldn't overlook this factor as I barely slept. The dining room is also absolutely stifling.

We stayed at Hotel Porto for one night. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They were more than willing to help us get transportation to the bus station the next day. They were also very prompt with emails. The room was clean, simple, and neat. The breakfast was okay, but not super. The location is not the best. It is a shiny new building in an industrial type area. It is close to the airport though. We arrived in Zadar late at night and ended up walking from the bus stop in the dark...quite scary. Decent place for a one night, sleep only part of your trip. Quite far from town.

Stayed here for one night. The room and bathroom are big enough for two people and very clean. The hotel is located in the middle of nowhere and far from Zadar, so don't expect to see a great view from your hotel window.

The restaurant was surprisingly good and the staff is very kind.

I wouldn't necessarily stay here again, but it's alright for one night.

I stayed in Zadir for one night, and chose to the Hotel Porto for easy access to the highway and the coastal road. I got a great price on the room. It was clean, but we had a view of the gravel yard next door. I was lucky to be traveling with a friend who speaks some Croatian or I might never have found it on my own. The breakfast was OK, but the breakfast room is in the basement and the coffee/tea was not good.

  • Liked — Parking lot, building had an elevator close to our room

Hotel Porto in Zadar is exactly like the cheapest 'holiday inn' type place without any charm. It is located in the middle of an industrial estate on the South side of Zadar and the nearest 'facility' is a Lidle superstore about quarter of a mile away. They were building the third storey when we were there and there was building dust everywhere. Having said that the room was spacious and could have been nice had it not been for the dust - it overlooked a transport yard! Dinner was terrible - even our Croation coach driver agreed how poor it was in every way - not least because it was less than likewarm. Breakfast was little better although if one just stayed with the continental, then the bread was really nice. This is not a tourist hotel - rather just a truck-drivers stopover - with all due respect to truck-drivers!

  • Liked — Nothing comes to mind
  • Disliked — The food and the dust!
