“Hoel Histria a good experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2012

just returned from hotel histria in pula, fabulous hotel, comfortable rooms, indoor & outdoor pools excellent, staff were really helpful, food plentiful. The area surrounding the hotel is lovely, the walks along the pathways are surrounded by beautiful scenery. The bus service into Pula is reasonable and regular, every 20 minutes, 11 kuna each way, though you can buy a pass is you intend to travel out daily. We also travelled to Rovinj and Porec on the local bus, comfortable buses, helpful staff at the bus station. We also did the day trip to Venice which was great but tiring, if you find too much walking tiring suggest using the water taxis, you can arrange these on the catamaran going over, catamaran take kuna or euros. We went a bit off the main squares in Venice found a place called the Snack bar, used by locals, very reasonable prices. Hope you enjoy the area as much as we did.

Room Tip: We paid for a low floor sea view room, lovely & quiet

Just returned from 11days in Croatia staying at Park Plaza Histeria. A wonderful holiday, absolutely stunning scenery, looking out to the sea and islands! We had a sea view room which was excellent, even had a settee and was very well furnished and to a high standard. Towels were even supplied for the swimming pools. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, even the public toilets, never saw anything dirty or dusty as they were always cleaning and polishing!
Very good selection of food, I am a plain eater and never went hungry due to large choice. Staff were friendly, Ana on reception was always smiling and she was very helpful. Would definatley recommend and intend to return sometime. Wifi is free throughout the hotel including bedrooms.
The upgrade this hotel has had is a credit to the owner.

Room Tip: We were on the 3rd floor with a sea view room 317 close surrounding rooms would also be very good.

We’ve just got back from a relaxing and mostly sunny week at the Hotel Park Plaza Histria Pula (18-25 September 2012).

The hotel’s facilities are really excellent. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and very pleasing, the staff work tirelessly and it shows as during our holiday all public areas were clean and ready to go. It was superb to sit on the very comfortable furniture on one of the terraces after breakfast and chill out and gaze out at the panoramic views which are simply stunning.

All sun loungers are also very comfortable and plenty of them - we had no problem in finding a cosy corner to laze away the day. We didn’t have to resort to reserving a sunbed and getting up at the crack of dawn to secure the best spot! Phew !! Probably because it was late in the season.

Our twin bedded room was excellent. We had a view of the Marina and partial sea view - lovely. Super comfortable beds and soft pillows, perfect power shower and bathroom all finished to a very high standard. All looks brand new. Plenty of storage space in wardrobes and free safe deposit box. Complimentary toiletries in the bathroom. Mini bar obviously extra charge (if used) but we took out all the bottles etc. and used it to store our own drinks in which we bought from the supermarket! Service in rooms is daily (towel changes daily) and change of bed linens twice weekly.

One negative is the bathroom towels which are small to say the least! The comparison is that the “bath towels” in your room are the equivalent of our hand towels at home in the UK !!

Also the hotel do not provide beach towels so you must bring your own.

Tea and coffee making facilities are available on a tray in your room with kettle! Quite rare in Croatia we have found.

I would just add that if you love your cup of tea in the morning then please bring your own tea bags as Croatian tea is just awful!! You have been warned!

We were very happy with our room. It was really lovely, clean and totally comfortable - we loved it. Flat screen LG TV - (mostly German channels on TV - but that’s the norm isn’t it?)

Our week’s stay was on a B&B basis although we tried the restaurant for dinner in the hotel on two occasions throughout our stay but disappointingly both times, the food was poorly presented, either overcooked or undercooked, not piping hot and limited choice, not very inspiring.

We were so very disappointed with the food at dinner as we thought the Croatian cuisine would be more varied, especially as they are close neighbours to Italy and felt sure the food would have the influence of Italian cuisine - not so. Fresh fruits and vegetables are not expensive, especially in summer. In our opinion the breakfasts were the most enjoyable as there is more choice and chef will cook your eggs as you like - e.g. omelettes (with fillings of your choice), fried eggs or scrambled. Would have liked to have seen more fruit on offer but perhaps I’m being too picky here!

We must mention the staff on reception in the hotel - all were professional, helpful and very hard working. Speaking of the reception area this is totally awesome - its very impressive, spotlessly clean and has some quirky furniture - really nice though.

A special mention must go to ‘Ana’ on reception, she is always so happy, friendly, smiling and ready to assist - a real asset to the team.

There is a small parade of shops in the complex but there is not a chemist/pharmacy, camera accessories shop, patisserie or a “holiday type shop” and we feel that shops such as described would have been a real asset and added to our enjoyment. The shops on the complex are very pricey (a bit designer-ish) and nice to look in but not to buy anything! You will see what I mean if you stay at this hotel.

There are 3-4 restaurants on the complex and we tried them all during our stay and I’m sorry to say that we didn’t have a truly culinary experience in any of them! We are not particularly fussy but the pasta dishes were bland (and often served lukewarm aargh) - just not very good in general.

The Lobby bar in the hotel has a special offer every day of 30 Kuna for a ciabatta or panini (various fillings) which comes complete with a side order of a small bowl of French fries. We ordered from this menu and it was awful, quite disgusting. The French fries were covered in salt and I mean covered. Just couldn’t eat it. Yuk! Yes we did complain and declined the meal and was duly reimbursed.

The hotel is situated about 15 minutes from the centre of Pula and is easily accessible by bus or of course taxi.

There is also free internet from the business centre just past the reception area.

The week we stayed there was not much in the way of entertainment at the hotel. Never saw the animation team but apparently they do exist somewhere! So if you want some nightlife you will have to go into the centre of Pula by either bus or taxi - a bit too far to walk though.

To sum up we would say the hotel is fabulous and well worthy of a 4 star plus for the guest rooms, swimming pools, stunning views, recreation areas, bars etc. All just great and very highly recommended.

To bring the food up to 4 star standard to match the rest of the hotel would not take a miracle - just some chefs with real passion and imagination !!

So to sum up we had a great holiday and the weather was pretty good and probably would go back again - despite the food issue.

Hope our review has been helpful and that you enjoy your trip also.

I had the pleasure of staying in the Histeria at the end of August for a week's vacation.
A very smart, modern, cosmopolitan hotel, very nicely furnished, great layout and facilities, loved the pools and being able to walk to the sea.
My room with a sea view was large and very comfortable, no shortage of space with excellent bathrooms. Everything was clean and kept clean
Pool staff Anya and the guys were great, always happy to help with parasols etc.
WiFi worked very well throughout even by the pool.
Great sunloungers by the pool and on the terrace.
No shortage of food.
All combined with the lovely views, the beautiful sea and weather equalled a fantastic relaxing holiday. Will definately be back.

Room Tip: definately pick one with a sea view

We have stayed in this hotel few days ago. It is very new, very clean and modern, staff is friendly, wifi is free in all the hotel. But it is very pricey for Croatia. We liked it because it is very new and clean. We had a room with a sea view. The breakfast is quit poor, if you compare with Greece or Spain.

The hotel is beautiful and modern. Our room was spacious and was well-designed. A long dresser/shelf along one full wall gave us plenty of space to hold our open suitcases and unpack. Everything was clean, all the furnishings looked brand new, and the wifi worked well.

The buffet-style dinner and breakfast were terrible. There was a reasonable variety of foods but nothing was very tasty. Salad bar was limited, and the hot options were mostly various overcooked meats. For breakfast, the fruit was underripe, the cereals were tasteless, even the yogurt was bad. Given the hotel location, it's tough to venture out for food (unless you're willing to drive) so if food and convenience are important to you, this may not be the right property. It's a shame because the rest of the hotel is really spectacular.

Just returned after having spent a week at this hotel. cannot add more about the hotel than has already been said, although a previous reviewer said they couldn't use Internet throughout the hotel, we found that Internet was available throughout even at the pool and in our room.

Food in the buffet was good and drinks reasonably priced at 24 kuna for a large beer. Soft drinks are better value at the pool bar - twice the drink for only 3 kuna more.

The hotel offers a low priced laundry service. There is an ATM in the hotel.

We tried the a la carte restaurant and can recommend it. It was very reasonably priced at £40 for two including 4 glasses of wine.

The only downside is that there is very little around the hotel in the way of bars and restaurants so unless you want to get the bus or taxi into pula you're stuck, and the week we were there the hotel bar was almost empty at 10pm as everyone had gone to their room. All in all a lovely hotel which seemed to cater for families or older clientele, although not young children. would we return, well never say never but I can hear Greece calling again.

Room Tip: Rooms without a seaview seem to get the sun on their balconies in the late afternoon.
