“Clean, simple, central”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2014

I think this hotel has unfair reviews. I stayed here one night in August 2014 and found the room to be simple, clean and quiet (top floor). It's a simple family run hotel, so there are none of the luxuries one might find at a big chain. But it's close to the centre, and not too expensive. Breakfast was simple, but filling (yogurt, bread, croissant, coffee, jam, butter and cheese, ham). The owners don't speak much (any?) English, so some of the reviews might have been negative because they appear grumpy, but in reality, they are fine in their own language. All in all I'd stay here again - a simple hotel at a fair price.

Room Tip: Try the top floor, but there is no elevator....

We had an early morning flight and stopped over in Pula for the night. This was not our first choice of hotel but as we had been 'double booked' round the corner we were relocated to Omir which has the same owner. Basic but clean rooms with comfortable double bed , very good breakfast set in an interesting dining room. The smell of smoke on arrival and presentation of reception staff need to be mentioned though as it reminded me of travelling 20 years ago when these things were more acceptable. OK for one night and handy for centre I suppose.

Positive: The beds were OK, the shower worked, and the bathroom was reasonably clean. The price is OK given the location and the alternatives.
Neutral: This place is BASIC. Don't look for attractive light fixtures, big screen TVs or minibars. Also, expect the smell of smoke.
Negative: At check-in, the price was quoted as 450 HRK, but the next morning they tried to raise it to 500 HRK, citing some "mistake" and something about the tax office. When I asked how much that would be in EUR, she said "60 EUR", which I knew to be worth 450 HRK, not 500. I smiled, paid 60 EUR, and cheated the would-be cheater.

Hotel Omir is located close to the old town of Pula (5 minutes walk from the Sergii's Arch).
The rooms are basic, generally clean but a little bit "old". However, the price is very cheap so the ratio qualtiy / price is very good.
The breakfast is simple but in enough quantity.
The staff is kind and helpful.
A good address in Pula for restricted budget.

There are lots of hotels in Croatia built in 70's and not renovated since, but they have seen better times. This one hasn't been built fancy from the day one. Basic equipment, it looks like B&B and not a full featured hotel, like some residential building turned into a hotel 2 or 3 decades ago. If you just want to spend the night with no fuss, this is adequate and don't look further. Good value for money. If you came to a full-featured vacation, well, than you must be closer to a beach or similar, and not in a center of a town.
Otherwise, it was clean, quiet, breakfast was also basic, staff were friendly. Beds were not comfortable, and as a detail: the batteries in the remote for the TV were dead. I didn't came to watch TV so I didn't bother to exchange them at the reception.

We booked Hotel Omir because it was close to the shops and sites of Pula. That was true, but the hotel was a bit disappointing. The reception staff were not very friendly and our room was very basic. Despite being a "smoke free" hotel, we were hit with the smell of smoke immediately upon entering the hotel. The same was found in our room. We gave breakfast a skip to get out early and see the sites, so no comment on that part.

If you want to stay in Pula, this hotel is a very good choice. 3 minutes walk to the market place and shopping area, and 5 minutes to the old town.

Breakfast is pretty basic, but OK, and omelettes are offered. The staff is friendly and helpful.

There is no airport bus service to the hotel (or to any other hotel in town), but the bus station, which is not very centrally located, is reached in some minutes by taxi, and taxis are reasonably priced.

Room Tip: Our room was on 3rd floor, facing the street, and there was quite some noise in the mornings (garbag...
