“Bad service, bad food, bad attitude”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

This definitely deserves its low rating. The food is bad, the service a joke, considering it is advertised as "exceptional" as in exceptionally rude? The cover charge of bad white bread is 15 kuna per person. Waiters look for a tip and don't care once you are seated. The food is basic as others have written and overpriced. This is a come once because you don't know how bad it can be, don't come again restaurant. If there are any repeat customers I would be amazed. Avoid at all costs spend your money at a supermarket or fast food place.

“Mussels were divine, but prepare to pay a premium for location and other extras”
Reviewed August 26, 2012

With limited time during a day tour of Dubrovnik, my travel companion and I succumbed to the lure of free wi-fi at the Bistro Teater, one of several sidewalk restaurants located near the Stradun, right in the heart of Old Town. We ordered a plate of the much-touted Croatian mussels, purported to be the best in the world. We were served a huge platter of mussels steeped in a delectable broth of wine, garlic and other spices, and a basket of bread to sop it with. Though not the size the large shells would have one expect, the mussel meat was fresh and exquisite, infused with the salt and flavors of the Adriatic. It was, as George Bernard Shaw would have proclaimed, heaven on earth. The negatives: the restaurant barker/waiter was a tad aggressive and didn't bother to explain the extra charges on our check, which we figured out later to be for the bread (extra in most restaurants in this area) and the 'cover charge' for the privilege of dining at a cafe perfect for people-watching in a touristy area. Still, it was blip in an otherwise standout culinary experience at a great location. If you're not willing to pay for the assorted extras, ask about them first, then decide. Or, look for less touristy spots on the fringes of Old Town.

“Really basic food”
Reviewed August 20, 2012 via mobile

This restaurant looks nice at the first look. But by eating in it, you realize that it is really a touristic place with high-costly plate compare to what do you have really to eat.

“Doesn't worth what you pay for”
Reviewed August 16, 2012

Coming from Germany, I've expected much tastier seafood for the money. Sea bass was not fresh, shrimps weren't any different from what I could get for much cheaper price in Germany. A hidden cover charge is absolutely unfair. Avoid, that's my advice to you.

“Hidden charges, bad food and disgustingly rude waiter! Please avoid.”
Reviewed August 13, 2012

What a mistake it was to go here. I ordered a Greek salad as my main. The waiter tutted when I told him that's all I wanted. When the bill came we found the bill contained various extra charges. The beer on the menu is priced per volume too so you pay three times as much. I politely asked the waiter to explain our bill to which he replied "I only work four hours a week don't complain to me". Another waiter made fun of me by whispering to a customer who asked what the problem was. Awful. A horrible end to our time here. Go to the fish restaurant on the port or others locals recommend.
