We extensively researched accommodation before we booked it and from looking at the reviews of this place we thought it looked like budget accommodation but that it would be decent.
The accommodation was terrible. Firstly, it is a rundown area in which I felt unsafe. The area is unlit, the building door is open at all times of the night which allows people to wander in and out with no security. One evening someone had left their buggy in the hallway and when we came back the buggy was gone and the contents of it tipped onto the floor so we can only assume it was stolen!
The Blue room has no kitchen facilities. Only a tiny fridge which isn't even cold - chocolate still soft when it had been in there overnight! There is no balcony but there are good views. But with no balcony in which to view this from it doesnt add anything to the room.
Basically this is an apartment that has been split into 3 rooms (blue room, yellow room and green room) and has a main door which you must unlock first and then unlock your own room. the main door's lock was broken so it took 5 mins to get in each time and some people would come in late and not be able to work the lock so rattle it for 10 minutes waking up everyone else. This isn't the fault of those staying here but the fault of Goldi for not ensuring the lock is working properly.
The aircon is terrible and hardly worked. We left it on for 2 hours whilst we were out and returned to the room expecting it to be cold and it was still warm. The worst aircon system i have ever encountered. As a result we had real difficulty sleeping due to the heat.
The shutters are old and don't draw together fully, this lets a lot of light into the room which further affected our sleep. Also the large window doors were not fully secure, poor lock which could easily be broken. This meant bugs and mosquitos can easily get into the room and in the night we were bitten many times.
The bed is old and uncomfortable. The bathroom suite is very small and old and needs cleaning properly.
A key issue was the lack of customer service from Goldi. She promised to bring us more towels as we were staying 4 nights. Not once did she return with towels for us and neither did she restock toliet roll - basics is any accommodation. She had misled us on the quality of the room and we felt cheated and upset.
