“Really nice place, just not quite perfect”
Reviewed September 19, 2012 via mobile

Stayed here in a superior double for a few days and overall very impressed! Room was nice, good facilities, decent balcony but we were sadly right at the end so half or view was a meshed fence onto some houses.
Breakfast really nice, with a great pool and decking area facing some great views of the Adriatic and Dubrovnik coastline. Service was very good, prices reasonable given the hotel cost and really easy to dip in the sea and shower off after.
Easy 15min walk to the old town, quite relaxing after a day exploring and totally worth checking out the Art cafe with their bathtub seats and great cocktail menu (on the road into town).
Overall, really enjoyed our stay but it just lacks a bit of 'wow' factor, probably just because it's a large chain and so can feel a little personal. Service and facilities though are first rate!

So let's start with the good things:
- close to the town center, which is an easy 15 minute walk away
- the rooms are a decent size and clean
- the views are amazing from the rooms
- a great swimming pool and very nice beach within walking distance
- free wifi (but only in the lobby)

Why isn't it 5 star?
- well as the saying goes, "you can't complain about the service because there isn't any", not to say the staff are not friendly, they're just completely unattentive and forget what you asked for, and take a very very long time to bring you what ever you requested (and no the hotel was not busy so that was not a valid excuse)
- the food is at best average, and that's being polite
- the whole hotel, while nice is in desperate need of maintenance
- we asked for several wines only to be told that each one was out despite being on the menu, finally I asked for the waiters recommendation. He recommended two wines, great, only he came back 15 minutes later to say they didn't have either of the wines he had recommended. In short even when you get the staff's attention they often don't know the service or product they are offering

Would I stay here again? Yes. Would I eat or drink here again? Most certainly not.

Went for 1 week all inclusive for Wife's 50th birthday and came away very satisfied. Breakfast and evening meal in main restauraunt was very good quality with loads of choice, freshly made omlettes were gorgeous. Lunch menu at pool was certainly not fast food as mentioned in an earlier review, menu included several salads, pizzas, sandwiches and burgers, but also an extensive list of pasta and meat dishes, including rib-eye steak, wine served in correct glasses for choice made. Sea view room was cleaned to a high standard every day of our stay, clean towels and compliments every day. All inclusive list was easy to understand, you could have virtually any drink except champagne or special whiskies etc. all delightfully served by excellent staff in nice glasses, around the pool the bar lady whisked around all day on roller skates, never had to wait for a drink. Spa facilities were good, used them most days as the sun went down. We could also take any drink to our room, the maid next day returning the glasses. Yes, you pay a lot of money to stay here, but if you check how much other local hotels are in this area, if you like a drink, you'll get more than your monies worth in fantastic surroundings. Dubrovnik is beautiful.

Room Tip: Must upgrade to a superior sea view, amazing views.

The hotel is built into a rocky bay just north of the old town of Dubrovnik. It was a hilly walk of 15 minutes to get into town. Maybe a few more minutes home since it's mostly uphill but that being said it was easy enough with buses frequently passing incase you'd rather ride a city bus. Cabs can also easily be found.
I stayed here for 3 nights recently and was impressed immediately by the detail and design of the lobby.
When I went down to my room (the lobby is on the ground level and most of the rooms are below it as the hotel is built into the rock in the bay) I opened the door and was blown away by the view. It was amazing. The terrace that was there to enjoy the view was pretty well a dream. The bathroom was very modern in design and very romantic...that being said, if you were traveling and staying in the same room as someone that you don't want to see nude or have them see you nude it would require some planning.
I enjoyed the beach level quite a bit. I spent some time in the Adriatic which was nice. Easily accessible by the steps and ladders provided or the stone platform that is there for diving "unofficially".
The pool was lovely as well with plenty of loungers for all. There is a server on rollerblades that is ready to deliver food and drinks to the pool area. Prices were what you'd expect for a five star hotel in terms of drinks but lower for the easy casual food pool side.
Breakfast could be enjoyed either on the terrace or inside the restaurant. The food selection was good and was replenished frequently. The coffee was great!
I went to the dinner buffet once night and wasn't expecting much since typically I don't love dinner buffets but it was FANTASTIC! There was a large variety of salads including some seafood salads that were incredible and fresh. The mains were great as well.
All in all, I would love to stay there again and it's a chain that would be one I'd look at in other locations.

Booked this hotel for my Honeymoon in August and the first impression was amazing. Palm trees in reception, panoramic views of the bay, the lot.
Unfortunately the room (which I'd upgraded to a superior double) needed some serious maintenance. Sockets came out the wall when I tried to unplug anything and half of them didn't work. The white silicone in the bath looked like it had turned black years ago and every time we took a shower the tiled floor in the hall at the other side of the wall turned into an indoor pool. I told myself I didn’t care and put up with all the little shabby disappointments. Then the air con kicked in at about half eleven and sounded like a hamster running in a wheel. No sleep for me that night.
The next day we changed rooms with no hassle and the room we spent the rest of the trip in was a world away from the one we put up with on the first night. Call me fussy but when it’s costing a months wages to stay there a week, you want it to be right. And for the rest of our stay it was very right.
Everything was lovely from the breakfast buffet to the pool facilities, gym and bar. The staff were friendly and helpful (mostly), and the location is fantastic. Close enough to old town to stroll there in 15 min but far enough away to avoid the bedlam (On your way back from old town check out Art Café, or more to the point, their cocktail menu). We also found a really smart little restaurant 200m from the hotel which served gorgeous Croatian food, at less than half the cost of the places within the walled city (go to the end of the hotels road and turn left, away from the old town drag, it’s on the main road).
Overall I was really happy with the Hotel. My only criticism would be Rixos need to invest in their existing Hotels before they spend all their money opening swanky new ones on the Dubai palm islands! (or at least fix the bath in room 1911!)

Room Tip: See the review above. We paid for the upgrade and it was worth it. If you get room 1911, check they...

Spent 4 nights here in a well appointed room with balcony and sun loungers overlooking the Adriatic. Both the indoor and outdoor swimming pools were clean and a joy to swim in. It was easy to get from the hotel sun deck down steps into the Adriatic and there was a shower when you came out to wash off the salt.
Very friendly and helpful staff who willingly helped with any queries.

Looking forward to staying there again.

Stayed for two nights. Got a cheap rate on expedia a few days previously. Really good value for money at £115 a night. Lovely pools and beach area, although drinks are expensive. Bed was very comfortable. Staff on reception a little rude, but that does seem to be the way with lots of hotel staff in Croatia. Views from the hotel are just stunning.
