Hostal Marker was amazing! The staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean. The hostel is located close to several hot spots in Old Town but there is always something fun happening there as well! It's a good hostel, it's look like a home, i missed a place to chat, drink, have fun. But it's ok to people that like some thing calm.I would highly recommend!

I chose this hotel after having read all the positive reviews here on TripAdvisor, but was enormously disappointed. Our flat was dark, in the kitchen the fridge door couldn't be closed properly so there was a constant leakage on the floor, very unhygienic. The bathroom was the worst, even darker than the livingroom, the toilet was leaking whenever flushed. The tap in the bath tub was also leaking. There were dead bugs behind the bathroom door. Also, the decor was distasteful, pictures of half-naked women in different positions on the walls, very embarassing as I travelled with my parents! My brother got a rash after sleeping on the very worn sofa in the livingroom. The manager was nice, but did not fix any of our complaints.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hostel Marker. Marko (the manager) was so helpful and answered any questions we had on arrival as well as recommending places to go/eat in Dubrovnik. The location is great - near the bus station and not far from gate into the Old Town (a 2 minute walk). Our room was basic but clean and with a lovely big bathroom. We would definitely recommend this place to stay in Dubrovnik!

Booked a room for 4 people in advance. Booking confirmation ok and questions by email were answered on time. We arrived by car and "Marco" came to meet us by the old town and showed us where to park for free. The parking place was full but Marco succeeded in finding the owner of another car, asking him to move it, changing his own car's parking space and therefor getting enough space for us to leave our car. Great welcome and effort from Marco!!!

We were supposed to have an apartment for 4 people for ourselves. The flat for our first night was instead an apartment with 3 floors each having its own "room". Therefore we had to share with other travelers and the rooms were very minimal-basic with small beds. We probably arrived too late (6 pm) and our original rooms had been given to someone else.

The next day we were promised a better apartment and received a great 3 room flat with TV, DVD, kitchen, bathroom, air conditioning etc. which was perfect (flat #19) and what we had expected. Location is superb - especially in relation to price level of accommodation that close to the old town entrance. Marco was very helpful 100 % of the time (carrying luggage, providing parking space, helping with everything possible, making sure things were fine etc. etc. ) and even gave a discount for the first night as we didn't get what we really had booked.

If you're looking for hostel type accommodation at good location this is it IF you happen to get a good apartment / rooms!

Had a lovely stay in Dubrovnik in one of Marko's rooms about a 2 minute walk from the Pile Gate. It is in a really quiet area, a small laneway just up from Orhan restaurant (which I'd recommend for a mid-price dinner).

We had arrived quite early on the Bari to Dubrovnik ferry without accommodation, and had tried a pension across from Marco's place. They were full and directed us across the laneway where we met his lovely niece. She assured us we would have accommodation in one of their rooms for the evening, 100% without a doubt. She said we could leave our bags for however long we wished and come back in the evening, which we did. Around 6ish we returned met a very relaxed Marko who showed us a room. He was so friendly and welcoming and we had a good chat with him for about 30 minutes, about Dubrovnik, Croatia and his 20 years living in Germany. He is generally interested in his guests and you feel as though he is a friend as soon as you meet him.

The room we had was in 2 bedroom apartment, simply furnished with a separate bathroom and kitchen - including a washing machine! We got the larger of the 2 rooms, it was furnished with a double bed, fold out sofa which could be used by another couple or even children if required, a wardrobe, 2 chairs and a coffee table. It was very spacious with a high ceiling so we felt we had plenty of space. It is very basic accommodation, but we're not fussy travellers, as long as we have a clean space to sleep in we are happy. How long are you going to spend in a room when there is Dubrovnik to explore! The beds were made up, with clean towels on the end and I think there were a few shampoos and shower gels in the bathroom. The second room in our apartment was taken by a friendly Spanish traveller who was back for his second stay at Hostel Marker, and raved about Marko being a great guy. We were charge about €56 euros total for the night, which is a bargain in high season.

We would stay here again for sure, it's always great travelling and finding a well-located but economically priced gem like this.

We booked at Hotel Marker after reading the reviews on this site, but were left somewhat disappointed by our experience ... in fact, it's hard to believe it was the same place other people are raving about.
The location, granted, is fantastic - right in the heart of the old town and just a few minutes' stroll from the heart of the action.
But our room was sorely lacking and, after reading other guests' descriptions it looks like we got the worst of the bunch by some margin.
No air con, no fan and no space to move once you'd put two small bags inside - very average hostel facilities at mid-range hotel prices.

Despite trawling through the internet for hours we were struggling to find a triple room in dubrovnik which was reasonably priced and near the old town. Thankfully we eventually stumbled across Hostel Marker. After meeting the absolutely delightful and welcoming owner Marco we were shown to our room. We were expecting a basic one room with three single beds and yet stepped into a three room apartment with kitchen and even a little balcony. It was clean tidy and modern and extremely good value. Marco was without a doubt the highlight however - the friendliest and most helpful hotelier i've ever met!
The location was fantastic - literally a set of stairs to the old town and next to a great restaurant on the edge of the bay.
