I had read all the reviews about this apartment and they are all true.
Vilim responded quickly to any queries I had prior to and after booking and organised a taxi to meet us at the airport. He was at the property to greet us and show us all around the apartment and explain how everything worked. He then took us out in his car and pointed out where to find the beaches, the bus stop for the bus into the old town, the strip with lots of restaurants and other local amenities. He had also left us some home made liquers and sugar coated almonds which were very moreish. One night he cooked a traditional Croatian meal for us which was delicious.
The apartment was lovely. I have never stayed in a place abroad which was so spotlessly clean - everything gleamed! The shower was huge and very powerful which was great but we found that the quantity of hot water did not allow for 2 of us having the shower on full without it running cold on the second person.
The apartment was very well equipped with everything you need if you wanted to do some cooking yourself. The seating was very comfortable as was the bed although it did tend to creak quite loudly as you got in and out of it! We loved the windows with the shutters which you could open or close however you wished. The airconditioning was OK but we were a bit disappointed to find that it wasn't in the bedrooms and we thought we might have struggled with the heat if we had come in the height of summer as we do not tend to have windows open at night when abroad in case of mosquitos.
And then there was the balcony! Wow what a fantastic view! We could have sat for days watching the ships and cruise liners going up and down. We even spotted Roman Abramavich's yacht moored just under the bridge!
There was a gorgeous walk if you turned left after going down the steps from the apartment to the street and within 10 minutes you came to a lovely little beach. This was very peaceful and you could hire sunbeds and parasols but the lunch choice was very limited. We nearly always walked an extra 10 minutes to Cococabana beach which was bigger and had a nice lunch menu. The sunbeds on one half of the beach were very close to each other so we opted for the furthest beds which were very comfortable but very expensive! For 2 beds and a parasol it was 260 kunas (about £35) which we thought was a bit steep. It was also quite noisy with the music which they seemed to like to have up loud (very annoying) and there was a guy across the other side of the beach who jetwashed some inflatable floating things practically all day!
There do not appear to be any sandy beaches in the area but we were quite happy about that as we always have beach shoes (a must) and don't like the way sand always sticks to you when you have sun cream on.
A trip to the old town is a must but be warned that the number 6 bus gets rammed and I mean rammed with people.
We would have liked to have done a boat trip but it was very windy and the sea was very choppy so we gave that a miss. Unfortunately, the weather on a couple of days was not great. On the one day the wind and rain must have rivalled Hurricane Irma and was followed that evening by a terrific thunderstorm. We understood from speaking to Vilim though that this was unusual for September. It is usually lovely and sunny and slightly cooler than July and August which can reach over 40 degrees.
All in all, we had a lovely stay in a beautiful apartment with an amazing view and a host who really went the extra mile to be helpful and was always at the end of the phone if you had a problem or needed any information about anything.
Thank you Vilim - you are a star!
We loved our stay in Vilim & his family's gorgeous apartment. It was bright, spacious and super clean. The views from the balcony were lovely and we just loved sitting out there taking it all in. The home made liqueurs were great, as was the yummy chocolate pancakes Vilim made and brought up to us one evening. Vilim really goes above and beyond to make your stay as easy and enjoyable as possible, he is the perfect host!
Apartment spotless with balcony overlooking the harbour & within walking distance of numerous beaches & restaurants. Situated away from the tourist area so lovely & peaceful but within easy reach of the Old Town which could be accessed by a short walk and hopping on the No. 6 bus. Vilim was the most helpful owner who, from the initial booking and organising taxis to and from the airport, to welcome drinks left on the table and helping us with our luggage at the end, not to mention a whistle top tour of the City in his car to help us pinpoint areas of interest. The apartment is well equipped, clean and spacious. There is a seating area with sun loungers but for us the balcony was where we loved to sit at night. Dubrovnik is the most beautiful city and we will be back, so much to see and do and 8 days certainly not enough time to do it in. Thank you very much Vilim!
A very nice, well equipped apartment with amazing views. Handy for local beaches and the old town. Vilim was an excellent host.
We (2 adults and two teenage daughters), stayed for a week at the end of July. Vilim was extremely helpful from our first enquiry, through the booking process, even arranging our airport transfer and throughout our week at the apartment was always available. Location is superb, close to nice beaches, restaurants and the port. The apartment itself is modern, clean and well equipped with the most stunning view. Vilim really is a great host, he provides everything you need within the apartment. His hospitality and genuine care is fantastic. If you are reading this thinking about booking, just go ahead, you won't be disappointed.
Perfectly situated overlooking the Adriatic, beautifully decorated, and fully furnished and equipped--Vilim's apartment is simply flawless. Walk to beaches, restaurants, shops, and bars in minutes. Catch a bus to the walled old town, then back again when you have had enough of the crowds!
What you get: two bedrooms, gorgeous bathroom (with washing machine), lounge-diner, stylish kitchen, garden (with turtles!) and sea-front balcony with comfy seating for four and incredible views of the water, the cruise ships, and the surrounding hills.
That would be enough to make this apartment a major winner, but I have not even gotten to the biggest advantage this rental has to offer: owner/manager Vilim is the most genuinely charming host I have ever met. Any question you might have will be answered immediately and thoughtfully, and little extras like a guided tour of the neighborhood and complimentary liqueurs crafted by his mother and grandmother give an idea of how committed Vilim is to making his guests feel right at home.
We are already looking at dates for our next stay with Vilim!
