“Nice place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2011

After spending a fantastic week on the very small island of Sipan I was a bit apprehensive about moving on to the next part of our holiday. When we arrived at the Ariston it took a bit of getting used to but it was a very nice hotel. The room was clean and spacious and the view was incredible. I personally did not like the beach area but that was only because it was so crowded - something that's hard to avoid in high season. The infinity pool was a quieter option although it did get a bit noisy with lots of little children - maybe it should be an adults only pool?
Wasn't particularly fond of restaurant Zoe - the food was OK but it just lacked atmosphere.
Breakfast was very good - a wide variety of food on offer to suit all taste.
Very easy to get into Dubrovnik Old Town - bus stop nearby with very regular bus service.
We ate at the Komin restaurant just over the road twice. Would highly recommend it for it's great food, staff and atmosphere. The lamb under the bell was amazing.

Room Tip: Definitely pay for the sea view - it's amazing.

My partner and I stayed at the Ariston last week (July) having previously stayed at the Neptun before, on the same site. The staff (the same at Ariston and Neptun) were as fantastic as before, welcoming, jovial and all prepared to go the extra mile to make sure everything is perfect, from accommodating early arrivals due to flights (I think check-in is supposed to be 2 or 3pm) to selling bus tickets on the desk for the service bus which runs from outside the hotel every 10 minutes to the old town.

The rooms in the Ariston are lovely. Clean, spacious, nice balconies and large bathrooms with baths and showers. The hotel amenities are excellent - 3 outdoor pools, 1 indoor pool, gym, beauty treatments (at far better prices than most British spas) beach bar, 2 restaraunts, excursion desk, and I can happily recommend all of the above services and amenities.

The best selling points to the hotel I think are the location and the level of service. The hotel is a bus ride from the old town but is in the best place on the number 6 bus route as it is the first stop on a bus that gets very busy in summer! The run into Dubrovnik is short and I would say it is definitely worth being out of town for the beauty of the hotel's location and for being able to swim in the crystal clear sea outside the hotel. The customer service from the staff at the hotel is exceptional and made our stay as perfect as it could be.

Room Tip: Sea-view balcony rooms!

We've just come back from our third stay in the Importanne Resort, twice before at the Neptun and this time at the Ariston and once again the hotel and its amazing staff made for a memorable trip.

Our room was spacious and well equipped and with a superb sea view from the large private balcony. A large bathroom with power shower and bath finished the room off.

As always the staff at the hotel were superb, every person we dealt with, from the reception team, restaurant and bar staff to the cleaners were friendly and efficient and always happy to help.

The hotel now has a very nice indoor pool in addition to two outdoor pools on the seafront bathing area and also a lovely infinity pool.

We normally never go anywhere twice believing that with so many places in the world to try it would be a shame to go to the same place more than once. We've now been three times to Dubrovnik staying at the Importanne Resort, we have such a nice time at the resort that we keep coming back!

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights from the 2nd July.

I had booked the hotel based on the reviews, and they were right!

This is a marvelous hotel, quite why it is 3 star I dont know, maybe because it doesn't do room service?

The hotel is moden, clean, customer friendly, excellent facilities, and the fact that it is a short journey out of Old Dubrovnik is a bonus, the bus journey in is simple, inexpensive, and a little trip in itself.

There is no beach as such, but what they call the beach, is rocks, that they have carved out to make an ideal sun trap, and the pools and sea although cold, are very inviting in hot weather.

Old Town dubrovnik is charming, and there are any amount of restaurants to choose from, it was quite refreshing to go somewhere without a McDonalds!

We will return for sure, cannot wait!

Thanks to all the staff for making it a lovely stay.

I can not begin to say what a wonderful experience we had at the Hotel Ariston!! There was a mix up with the reservation, totally my fault, and the hotel bent over backward to accommodate us, including an upgrade to a suite on our first night. The staff, from the front desk to the bartenders to the restaurant to the concierge, were exemplary. Always wanting to make sure that everything was perfect. The hotel sits right on the Adriatic and its views are breath taking. The pool and the access to the sea are lovely. Very easy access to and from the airport and the Old City. I would stay here again in a heart beat!

The hotels writes: "This beachfront hotel is located in the city center, close to Lapad Beach, Pile Gate, and Onofrio's Fountain" The question is to be raised what "close to..." means. From the hotel to the Pile Gate and Onofrio's Fountain in the old city, is about 5 km (almost 3 miles). When we walked from the hotel to see the Pile Gate it took us around 1 hour. To describe in the web-pages that it's "close" is a purely lie and nothing else than that. So look for another hotel so you don't be disappointed if you want to be close to the old city. As we visited the hotel to discover Dubrovnik, we can't recommend this hotel. However, the staff is very friendly here and gave us a great service. The room is clean but the bed is very hard. Thanks to that we found a very high discount off the price - about 40 percent - we are satisfied. But to pay ordinary price to stay here, is a really bad joke.

Great hotel - modern and clean with views to die for.
Spacious and well equipped rooms - but no mini bar and no coffee making facilities. Huge, comfortable beds but air conditioning a bit underwhelming.
Great base for touring Dubrovnik - recommend the public transport bus which leaves every 15 minutes from a stop 150 yards from the hotel reception.
We went in October and the place had that awful out of season feeling you often get in parts of the med and the same was true of Dubrovnik. Dubrovnik is only good when the weather is fine and the weather was hit and miss for us. Also Dubrovnik is incredibly expensive for Brits given the poor exchange rate. Our daughter reckoned that restaurant food prices were higher than most parts of London and that's going some for food that is 20 notches below in terms of quality.
As for eating out, Dubrovnik was a huge disappointment, especially the vaunted Domino Steak House. It's all well and good serving a great steak, but when it is lukewarm along with the rest of the hideous meal components and the steak is overpowered by wretched sauces - we say avoid at all costs.
Recommend the Oliva Pizzeria - the closest thing to authentic italian and Strada.
We found that the best food was back in the hotel at the Restaurant Zoe - their 4 course set meal for 100 kuna (£12.50) was bargaintastic and excellent value. Well cooked using great ingredients and above all - piping hot. You can use the 10% off voucher available from the "Dubrovnik in Your Pocket" brochure near reception for a saving on both the food and the drinks.

Finally - despite what some reviewers have said, the buffet breakfast was reasonable, appetising and also extensive.

Overall, the hotel was the best thing about our stay
