I enjoy history so packed the team off on a boat trip so I could visit in peace. Located up an alley of the main drag. Most of the photos are from the current disaster that is Syria. I can see why we rarely get to see these photos as I would think we would be running to our governments and urging them to do more to stop the slaughter . Well laid out exhibition. Reasonable entry fee. Good selection of books. Every language catered for.

The exhibition on Syria was informative, carefully-handled and very moving. Each photo has a caption in the booklet (which I think's important, especially when the photographer himself has a story to tell) and - albeit a little one-sided in terms of its political slant - gives a heartbreaking insight into the current situation. Some photos are quite graphic and disturbing, so maybe some caution needed for kids. Section on Yugoslavia at the end and a collection of TVs reeling past exhibitions on Bosnia, Kosovo, Croatia, Lebanon, Israel and more. Definitely recommend.

Give visitors a good understanding of the conflict and politics of the region. While we were there there was a visiting exhibition of photographs from Syria. Heart-wrenching images of innocent victims and homes destroyed.

We walked round the gallery which was exhibiting Syria's War: a journal of pain.
Photographs and text by Pulitzer prize -winner Narciso Contreras.
So pleased that we went to view the exhibition, it was certainly very thought provoking and certainly very sad and sobering..

Learned a lot about the Yugoslav wars, as well as about the situation in Syria. Warning: some of the pictures are not for the faint of heart!
