We only had a few days in Dubrovnik, so the hotel's location just outside the main city gate was perfect.

Hilton have updated the old Grand Imperial very elegantly, so it's a delightful place to stay. Well-equiped rooms, pleasant lounges, and an excellent breakfast buffet. We ate out for lunch and dinner so didn't try the restaurant at other times.

The pool is charming and uncrowded, with a big glass roof despite being underground. Attentive staff and overall a great base for exploring the city.

The location of the hotel was quite nice. We were able to walk everywhere. The staff was friendly, very professional, reserved day trips, taxis, dinners, etc, in a timely and efficient manner. You received confirmation messages via the TV. The breakfast buffet offered by the hotel was fairly extensive. It should accomodate all types of diets. There isn't an alarm clock so you need to rely on the staff for a 'wake-up' call or bring your own. I would definetly stay there again.

This was my second trip to the Imperial Dubrovnik, having been there last August (when it had only been open for a couple of months). I must say that the service has improved dramatically, and what was always of a very high standard has improved even more.

The hotel is fantastically located, just 5mins' stroll to the old town, and all the rooms are very well decorated. On both visits, was upgraded to an exec room with balcony overlooking the sea right at the front of the hotel (due to HHonors Gold card), and the Executive Lounge was great with its own balcony and inclusive food/ wine etc. Well worth any extra they may charge. Staff are overall quite young, and that adds to a nice atmosphere as they very very friendly and also professional, but not too formal at all.

The hotel has 4 floors, and even if you cannot get an exec room, or an upgrade, the delux plus rooms we were told are just like an exec room without a private balcony, but the view is so good anyway. Exec rooms are on floor 4 and also balconied-rooms on 1-3. As someone else said, if you definately want a sea-view, you must ask specifically for that at the front of the hotel or you may get a room at the side.

The gym is small with no free weights, but it has the basics, and is always almost empty, while the pool and sauna area is very bright and relaxing.

Food and drink is rather pricey, but there are loads of restaurants and cafes in the city. Note also that the weather in July/ August can be extremely hot (up to 35 degrees) - this is what we found last August - but in late April it was lovely and we were told that late Aug and Sept are also good times if you want to avoid the heat and still hot enough to swim in the sea, too. From the airport, a coach picks you up from all Croatian Airlines inbound flights (also British Airways' daily flight from London) and stops right outside the Hilton - saves a taxi fare, too.

All in all, a beautiful hotel which is not typical of Hilton's 'corporate blandness' in many other locations (sorry Brussels!), and once there you just relax so quickly which, combined with Dubrovnik's laid back atmosphere, makes for a wonderful holiday. Enjoy!

All the positive comments about this hotel (including mine) don't do it full justice. The place is truly outstaning, on a par with the "Leading Hotels of the World" six-star service, food, and accommodation.

The executive lounge serves excellent wine and snacks pre-dinner on the balcony overlooking a city sunset that should not be missed.

Our room was tranquil and beautiful, and the breakfast was so great that we skipped lunch every day in Dubrovnik.

I'd add "Marco Polo" restaurant in the old city to the places where great seafood is available. There is also a surprisingly good Chinese restaurant just up the street from the Hilton (a 5 minute walk away from the Pile gate, toward Lapad).
