“Catching a boat to Cavtat from Dubrovnik old port”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

The old port of Dubrovnik is sheltered by the city walls and the steep mountains along the coast. It is a picture perfect image of an idylic prt scene as you may have seen in paintings from impressionist painters, only better, because it is real and you can feel it, see it, walk on the jetty, see the numerous boats of all shapes, sizes and purposes tied to the jetty or anchored in the sheltered waters of the port.
Here you can buy ticktes on boats that take you to nearby islands and other destinations, as well as excursions on a variety of boats that take you out to admire the beauty of the Adriatic Riviera surrounding Dubrovnik and the Old Town.
If you visit Dubrovnik, you owe it to yourself to visit the port, and take a ride out on one of the boats.

“Here are some tips”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

The harbour is pretty and interesting to walk round. Some great views. Previous reviewer correct - the restaurants are not as good as those to be found in the town. Excellent ferry service to Lockrum. When you get there, use the café bar 50 metres in. Do not take "Fish Picnic - 3 island trips" that leave from here. The boats are large and overcrowded. Try and book a small boat - The Lorena is brilliant. Max 24 people and owned by a man interested in giving you a great day. Ask for Milo at the kiosks and book through him. Book the Carraca for a romantic evening trip with supper if you are not with children. The Glass Boat 45 minute trips are excellent value as an introduction to the area. ON NO ACCOUNT take a trip in the little red "submarines". We made the mistake of booking an evening trip (their last one of the night) on our last night. The only words the skipper spoke were, "Have you got your ticket" as I arrived. Our one hour trip lasted 35 minutes as he drove the boat at maximum speed between viewing points, and made myself and one of the other four passengers feel very sick. When I went on deck to try and recover we had missed the "guaranteed opportunity" to take pictures of the Old Town at night as I found we were pulling back into the harbour. The skipper ignored us as we left the boat. If they had their own review spot I would have given them 0/5. I am not a moaner - all my other reviews on this site are 5/5, but this trip was beyond the pale.

“Nice place to see from the ship”
Reviewed August 22, 2013 via mobile

We were on one of the cruise ships for the day. It is the new harbor. You can't see the old town but you can see surviving 16th century villas across the harbor. You also see the newer part of town. Interesting places to go are lacking but there are places to get souvenirs and grocery/sundries can be purchased. The important things are further away.

“Avoid the restaurants here. There are much better ones in the old town”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

The harbor is nice, but the restaurants aren't great. There are much nicer ones in the town. It's a good place to book tours.

Reviewed August 20, 2013

Very busy and very hot in August but lovely to watch the activity in the harbour if you can get a seat in the shade
