We visited Elafiti with private sailboat that we found in Dubrovnik. All of the islands are very nice and preserved. On first two there are not even cars. I found the second one(i think it was Lopud) the best.

My sister and I decided to take this trip. When we bought the tickets, the seller showed us some pictures, and especially the last island attracted us. He told there would be a beautiful beach with warm water, and the islands would be lovely. Even though it was nice to do something else than just walk around Dubrovnik, we were highly disappointed. There was not much to do on the islands. When we arrived at the second island, we had lunch. We ordered mackerel. We got a whole fish, and even though it tasted very well, it was not easy to eat from the entire fish.
When we arrived at the third, and final, island, the captain told us that it was a 20 minute walk to the beach. So we started walking, through the woods. This walk was much longer than just 20 minutes. But we arrived at the beach, and were looking forward to swim in the Adriatic. When we saw the beach, we were highly disappointed. The beach was dirty as there was garbage all over the place. Also, the water was ice cold. We only had about half an hour to be there, because the walk back would take us much longer than 20 minutes. On the way back, we got free drinks, which was nice. The captain also took some schnaps, something I don't really concider as safe.

It was nice to get away, but the trip itself could have been much better.

The harbour in the old town is full of stands selling tour boat rides. We took a trip to the Elafiti Islands on the last day they were due to run before the season ended. Perhaps that is why we were limited to 30 mins per Island despite having a leaflet on which the sales man had written 45 mins to 1hour per Island for the first two. No chance to go far in such a short time and nothing really open anyway. The lunch was nice and the crew friendly. The boat ride was smashing. The third island was shorter on time than promised too -only 1.5 hours instead of promised 2.5 but as before only two bars open even the church and monastery were closed for refurbishment. No buggies to beach on offer either. It felt a bit like everyone on the Islands had left and we had landed by mistake. Not much to do but sit and drink beer in bar. Price is very variable. It pays to haggle as they tell you it is discount but other days price back up. I think they gauge what they think you will pay. Overall worth it for the ride I feel.
