We did the 3 islands cruise, all of which are beautiful and the boat trip enjoyed (delicious fish lunch on board, worth getting) but the stops are very short so you see very little of any of the sites and don't really get to enjoy much of them.

The Elafiti Islands are close to Dubrovnik; the most popular are Kolocep, Lapud and Sipan. They are covered with trees, have some interesting ancient buildings and traditional architecture, as well as many coves and small beaches to swim and snorkel. There are also many open air restaurants serving delicious fish.

There are organised tours to visit them, but that can also be done independently: there are ferries that link all three islands to Dubrovnik, so that you can start early in the morning, go down at one of them, visit, then continue with the next ferry to another island, returning with the last ferry.

We booked this excursion from our hotel (Berkeley), and seemed to get quite a good deal from other boats we saw en route. We were picked up early morning by car from the hotel and had a short car ride down to the harbour.
The boat was really comfortable - quite luxurious actually. There must have been about 12 couples altogether - some actual couples and some girlfriends and a mother-and-duaghter pair; all different nationalities and all chatted and got on really well trhoughout the day, except for one intensively annoying English girl who irritated everyone, including her female travelling companion.
Water and soft drinks were provided en route, and it was so pleasant seeing the Croatian coast from the sea as we motored along: the rugged coastline, the rigged wooden tall sailing ships, the gigantic cruise liners.

We stopped off at 3 islands: Kolocep was the first, and my husband and I took a short stroll over the hilly centre of the island, and bouught an ice cream in the harbour. It was threatening rain, but we managed to avoid it.

At the second stop, Lopud, the boat crew's advice that it was an easy quick walk to the beack over the top of the island, proved to be a bit of an underestimate, certainly in the time we had available, so we paid a small fee and hopped on the back of a dune buggy and were whisked across the hill to a lovely beach, where we spend a very enoyable few hours, sunbathing and snorkelling. Back on the boat, lunch was provided with wine - a choice of fish or chicken or?? one other? with wine. Really tasty and enjoyable with our new travelling companions in the sun, on deck of a boat.

One to our last island Sipan : more strolls and exploring.

All back on board tired and happy after a lovely touring day

We did the Three Island Fish Picnic with Vivado. It is an enjoyable day and it takes in Kolocep, Sipan and Lopud. On Lopud you can get a golf buggy to take you to Sunj beach, which is a must if you’re in need of a sandy beach after two weeks in Croatia.
The food was good and there was plenty to drink on the boat. However, we were left a little bit disappointed by the amount of time we got to spend on each island. The Vivado Sales Rep in the Old Port told us that we’d get one hour, one hour and three hours. It was actually 40 minutes, 40 minutes and two hours 10 minutes. And then we arrived back in Dubrovnik 10 minutes early!

If want something different this is it a splendid day out with food, wine and entertainment all included on the boat plus time to visit the small towns and harbours of the islands.
