Beautiful old town which in November was pleasantly busy without being heaving - the one exception being the 2 - 3 hours when one of the cruise ships unloaded its contents!

The town is particularly attractive at night with the white stone work glistening in the street lighting.

Only two ships, not large ones, so it wasn't too busy. Such a pleasure to wander around the ancient streets and soak it all in.Before going you can check cruise timetables to schedule your visit for a day when there aren't many ships in port. The old town is not large, so easy to see it in a limited amount of time. If you are able to stay overnight, many choices of restaurants. Would love to go back and try them out.

Dubrovnik was a stop on a recent cruise & we took the shuttle bus to the Old Town, unfortunately there was another ship in as well & this meant a lot of people in a small place.
The Old city was very contained which surprised us but it made being a tourist easy. To escape the crowds & the heat, we walked up & down the many narrow streets lining the paths up towards the City Walls. The steep streets were crammed with houses & flats with locals living in them, obviously some were also available for rent for tourists.
We walked around the monastery which was lovely, quiet & reflective. Almost all the churches & other attractions had a small charge for entering, just a few euros.
I had yummy ice cream form one of the many vendors, great value & lovely to eat as we walked around the harbour, pretty but a bit smelly.

Again, we would have wished to have visited when it was less busy but no choice as time was limited. A lovely place to walk around but totally unsuited for anyone who would find stairs difficult, I had tired feet by the end of the visit & that was without scaling the steps to walk around the upper city walls!

Cruise ship crowds disappear around 4pm and its a much nicer time to walk the perimeter walls which is a must see as the Adriatic Sea and views into the old town from above are very special.

Beautiful buildings. Lovely alleyways and little wine bars, craft shops, very laid back. Great choice of restaurants but definitely a bit pricey.
