This year I and my wife decided to travel to Croatia. After much on-line reasearch we made the decision to rent an apartment in Dubrovnik and then take day trips to
Mostar in Bosnia, Split and Trogir, Kotor in Montenegro and Korcula in Peljesac peninsula.
I will write reviews for places we visited in separate postings but I want my first one to be about rental apartments of Villa King.
During my research on VRBO website I came across this Villa. The pictures and information on the website was very attractive and after some direct email exchanges with the owner, Jasna Kralj,we rented the 2 bedroom apartment.
All the information provided on the website and by Jasna were accurate and we feel that we were lucky to find this rental property.
The 2 and 3 bedroom apartments are beautifully renovated, have all the modern amenities, balcony and terraces with gorgeous view of the Adriatic sea, 15 minute walk to the old tow Dubrovnik.
But the best assert of this property is owners, Jasna and Luca, which with their friendliness and help made our stay in Croatia one of the most memorable of our trips.
In numerous email exchanges with Jasna she not only provided helpful info about Dubrovnik and the places we wanted to go but also took her time to organize our private day trips according to our specification (with her own helpful suggestions), arranged rental car with driver and even made reservation of restaurants and wineries.
Upon arrival in Villa King they welcomed us personally and there was a nice table set with wine, fruit, pastry and a welcome plaque. Then Luca took us for grocery shopping so that we could have items needed for breakfast etc. Many times they drove us to old town, restaurants and a day of excursion to interesting places around Dubrovnik.
I can not finish my review without mentioning another friendly occupant of the Villa, the adorable Maltese Mae (see photos).
We can not thank Jasna and Luca enough and highly recommend Villa King for anyone who wants a pleasant and worry free vacation in Dubrovnik.

I stayed at Villa King for two nights with my parents while showing them around the Balkans. We absolutely loved this accommodation! Our hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The apartment in which we stayed (2 bedroom, 1 bathroom) is tastefully decorated and superbly thought out. Beds were comfortable, and the whole place was absolutely spotless. It's about a 15 minute walk to Dubrovnik's old town. You could also take the bus, but we always chose to walk since the stroll is lovely. Although there may be closer places to stay or less expensive apartments on the other side of the city, you simply cannot beat the views from Villa King's location. The magnificent walled city is laid out before you in picture perfect glory. We loved spending time on the private balcony, looking over at the city and watching the cruise ships at anchor. I plan to return to Villa King with some friends in the near future!

Our family of four stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment of Villa King. Our hosts were very welcoming, taking us to the supermarket the first day for supplies and being on hand to offer help throughout our stay. It was a very clean, modern and well presented accommodation and was well equipped for our 11 day stay. Air con in the living room and main bedroom was a necessity though in the smaller bedroom the door had to be open during the night to benefit from the living room air con. Our balcony provided seating and a lovely view to breakfast at each day. The gorgeous terrace accessible outside our door was a lovely place to enjoy the views of the Old Town as the sun went down, the most beautiful sight. It was 15-20 minutes downhill stroll to the Old Town, a little longer uphill back in the heat! Supermarkets 15 and 20 minutes away too. We had a great holiday here and would definitely recommend this apartment and Dubrovnik.
I and two friends stayed at Villa King at the start of July. Jasna is a very lovely and helpful host. She lives at the property so was on hand to help us with many things - arranging a car to pick us up from the airport, taking us to the grocery shop to pick up supplies (wine) when we arrived, guidance on how to get around and where to find things - such as a port we were due to take a ferry from and were heading in completely the wrong direction! The apartment was I think one of three. It is situated about half a mile up a gently sloping hill from the old town. There is a bus stop right outside, and at the bottom of the hill also a taxi rank so you can hitch a ride back up if it's too hot or there is no bus. It is modern and clean and done with great taste. It has everything you need - air con, a massive shower, kitchen inc dishwasher, dining area, tv, washing machine, a balcony with dining table and chairs, access to a much bigger covered terrace with sofas and another dining area. The gardens are beautifully tended, and there flowers and plants everywhere. It's really beautiful. Even more beautiful though are the views. To the left is the island of Lokrum and to the right, Dubrovnik old town. All around, the blue waters and blue skies. We sat for hours taking in the views (while drinking our wine). I would highly recommend this beautiful place to anyone, and hope to go again one day.

warm welcome from Luca, who offered to take us down to the supermarket and actually waited for us to bring us back. walk to town is about 15 mins downhill but of course you have to come back up again! we did not get the bus at all and thought it wouldn't be worth it, quicker to walk and the view was amazing. Dubrovnik is not for people who are unable to walk up steps, so if you are not able to walk far I suggest you do not come here or stay at Villa King, that is just my opinion so sorry if I offend.
there is also a beach to the left of the apartment, about 5 mins walk to 300 steps down! it is nice and small and secluded, nicer than the one to the right of the apartment, which also has lots of steps!
as for the apartment, it was spotless, I read a previous review that there was no welcome pack of basic needs but we had everything from tea bags to toilet roll.
very modern, clean and everything you need for a holiday. view was amazing, wifi worked well but we didn't really put on the tv.
the shower was wonderful! beds comfortable
if I really had to pick holes in this place it would be the lack of hooks but of course that would not stop me stayng anyway.
it was perfect. i went with a group of friends but it would be equally as nice for a family or couples. there is a balcony, which of course you would have to be careful with children but it did not have a low wall so should be fine.
On our last day Luca came to pick us up from town as it was raining hard, very nice of him.
if I ever come back to Dubrovnik I would stay here
someone else said about payment, the internet was very clear upon booking that we had to pay in cash but I also confirmed which currency before our arrival

Have just returned from a few days in Dubrovnik sampling the New years festivities. The villa King was perfect for what we wanted. Modern, well equipped and spotless on arrival. Decorated to a high standard, the facilities could not be faulted with the kitchen perfect for a bit of home cooking should a night in be required after a hectic day in the Old Town. The location was good, quiet and around a fifteen minute walk from the Old Town,- though the local bus stops right outside. The views from the balcony are stunning! A panorama of the Adriatic coastline with Dubrovnik on the left, a perfect place for breakfast or a last drink at night. What really stood out though, was the hospitality of the hosts, Jasna and her husband. On arrival, Jasna drove us to the nearest supermarket to pick up supplies for our stay. We were then invited to share the New Years celebrations with her family and friends where we were wined and dined,- amazing! All in all, a perfect choice for those looking for value for money, location and comfort.
