“WALKING THE WALL IN DUBROVNIK”
Reviewed October 24, 2012

Of all the walled cities in the world Dubrovnik has to be one of the finest. The wall surrounds the old city and is approximately 2 Km. in length. Walking time takes about an hour, which allows ample time for photographs.

Be aware there are several steep staircases, so if walking is an issue or a heart condition bothers you, perhaps pass on this attraction.

The summer sun is very hot and hats are a must, as well as plenty of sunscreen. The cost to walk the wall is 8 Euros and although there are ways of sneaking on you will more than likely be asked several times for your ticket.

PHOTOGRAPHY TIP: A wide angle lens will serve you best otherwise shoot 4 or 5 panoramas and stitch then together in Photoshop. Photos of the red roofs are cool and easy to take and will add to your portfolio.

“Well worth climbing the steps”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

A couple of hours should be enough to do this beautiful walk on the ancient city walls. It offers many nice views and photo opportunities. I'd suugest going in the late afternoon (from 3:30-4pm) to avoid the sun overhead as there are not many shades and also the there will be less day visitors from the cruise ships by then.

“If you only do one thing in Dubrovnik”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

This is an extremely interesting walk, with several escape routes if you get too tired and hot. The ever changing views of the city were wonderful. The most massive and well preserved walls of any city we have visited. They are so massive that we could see them every day from where stayed at Villa Tonina in Cavtat 10 - 15 miles across the bay

“Must do”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

Lots of steps, if you walk through the old town to fort, the entrance has about 150 steps less than at the main gate.
Excellent views, take you guide book and map to locate the sites.
