“The reason for the average rating”

has to do with the little things which we found to be on the negative side.
The pro was mentioned enough by previous writers. We stayed in a studio at Amoret 3, which had beautiful antique furniture.
Con : we had trouble opening the door to ante corridor and tried for more than 10 minutes. Out of frustration, we called Branka only to find that the key was faulty.
The socket in the wall by my bed was totally out, so not only you can see the wires, but we thought that it is dangerous. There were 2 light bulbs burnt in the cieling lights, which were replaced, however, the cleaning lady knocked on our door, and when she got no reply, opened the door with her key - we were sleeping. There was a light missing in the bathroom above the mirror - the whole unit looked like it was bought at a garage sale.
We realize this is an apartment not a hotel or a b&b, but the restaurant Amoret, just at the bottom of the alley (which also belong to Branka) only opens at 11 am, so you have to go looking for a breakfast place,
Unless you stay for a week or longer, it does not pay to purchase groceries and use the mini kitchen.
If we are back in Dubrovnik, I'll probably stay elsewhere.

Our 4 rooms at Amoret 2 were attractively furnished bedrooms with kitchenette, thoughtfully renovated with high level of quality. Once you get over feeling like you live in an alley, you realize how fortunate you are to be so wonderfully located with everything mere minutes away. The shared terrace, still a work in progress, was a wonderful oasis for our group of 8 to meet for wine, etc. The owner Branka is not on premises but is very responsive and helpful. We could not rely on internet access and were told it was due to a thunderstorm--as noted in a previous review, soo-- just don't count on it. It seems to need resetting now and then. But our group found this a great choice for reasonably priced quality lodging hard to find here. As we did in Split, we had Branka arrange to have someone transport the luggage for all of us to outside the gate on departure--well worth the minimal expense.

Room Tip: If stairs are a problem for you, request a lower floor but Branka can't always know how arrivals...

We stayed three nights at Amoret Apartments. We had an apartment just above the restaurant with the same name. We had a bit of trouble finding it at first but a couple of sisters at the market stalls called Branka and she came to meet us. Branka helped me with the bags up one flight of stairs so I was very thankful for that! The room had everything we needed and it was great it was so centrally located as we could duck back during the day to freshen up or relax for a bit.

Recently stayed in the Amoret Apts with friends and found it very comfortable, clean and central to all the sights in the Old Town. Both couples had a studio type room on the third floor. Rooms were a good size with a small alcove kitchenette and reasonable sized bathroom. A great feature was a common terrace off the second floor with tables and chairs for all the guests to relax after a day of sightseeing. We found this to be perfect for having wine and cheese in the afternoon. The apartment is only a stone's throw from the market where we went each morning for cappuccinos and fruit. The walk in to the Amoret from the gate to the Old Town was not too bad. The streets are a smoother type of cobblestone and about a 10-15 minute walk

I have to say that when the much commented on and slightly larger than life - apartment magnate and nice person - Branka - met us and led us up the 66 steps to the Royal Apartment I was thinking "the only Royal I know that could do this easily would be one of the corgis...."
The apartment at Dinka Ranjine 5 ...and Branka will supply you a map that shows you where all her apartments are ..was very good. Interesting, great shutters, well appointed, bed OK, good washing machine and shower. Was it amazing...well yes in that the location is just great but the apartment was good not brilliant. If you are tall...and I'm not..this is not for you...too many rafters to hit your head on at night even if sober.
Ignore the fact that the door to the Royal Apartement looks like the door to a broom cupboard...bit Harry Potter esqe.
The shared terrace area is a good bonus and wifi OK though at Royal level...not working.
Overall a good experience and I think Branka runs a good business.

Room Tip: Choose an apartment suitable to your fitness level !

I am sorry that my house reminded that guest to Harry potters broom cabinet , you needed to know that he is coming in a 600 year old palace that was owned by the Nobles of Dubrovnik and not in a modern hotel . Maybe they didn't know but Dubrovnik is under UNESCO protection and even though there are no stairs till the house there are stairs inside of the house because there is no possibility of building elevators without breaking the UNESCO regulations . I must also add that we are chosen as one of the best apartments in Dubrovnik based on the Guardian , Times , Lonely planet , Rick Steves , National Geografics traveler magazines review . Our guest were Lord of Windsdor , countess of Salisburry , Minister of culture in Canada , German minister of defense , famous Holywood actors and they were all satisfied with the service and accommodation we provided . Our furniture is in Victorian style suitable for giving the ambient of the old Dubrovnik republic , and not modern at all .(The old type of door , tiles etc) .
I am sorry that the wifi didnt work , but in that time period we had a thunderstorm which caused problems with the internet connection , and I apologize for that .

We booked with Branka after having stayed in her apartments last year and again this year we were meet with the same outstanding personal touch. The Apartment was like a 2nd home catering for all our needs and the location could not be beaten. Right on your doorstep you have a fantastic array of cafes and restaurants as well as a local market which sells fresh fruit and vegetables daily.
If you are after being at the heart off everything then these Apartments are the place to stay, hope to see you again next year Branka..

We traveled to Dubrovnik this August to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary with family and friends. We'd booked 7 of Branka's apartments having seen them reviewed in a UK newspaper earlier this year. Our group consisted of 3 families with small children (including ours), a number of pensioners and a single adult. The apartments catered to each of our needs brilliantly. They are beautiful - each with a unique style, lovely antique furniture and Croatian art. We all felt that each apartment suited our needs well (and the building we were in was also served by a brilliant terrace where we congregated in the evenings prior to going out). Each is well equipped for the number of people it serves, and was cleaned half way through our stay.

Branka, the owner, is efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. She has been flexible (when some of our party were unable to come at very short notice), and available when we have needed her. She organised transfers from the airport and port for all of our party.

All in all, we would all highly recommend her apartments - and if we were to visit again (which I hope we will) then staying in the Amoret apartments would be a welcome treat once more.

Room Tip: We had a Royal - perfect size for a family with two children - good living / dining space and a sepa...
