We visited here by taking a boat taxi from the old harbour - about 60KN return each. Well worth a trip to relax and get away from it all. We went here when Dubrovnik old town was full of cruise travellers and were pleased we did. It felt like we were the only people on the island - nice simple dining in the bar near the boat jetty. We walked to the fort and took some pics from here and then walked back down and enjoyed a sandwich at the cafe. A nice relaxing way to spend 3-4 hrs and not very much money!

Lokrum is very easy to get. By small boat (20 min), extremely nice place to walk and explore local nature, having lunch, coffee etc. Take your swimming suit with you, we visited in May and for me sea water was nice (hot day), there is also shower available to wash sea water away. Enough paths to walk and nice big garden.

It's somewhat under-developed at present which is what I liked. There are some old buildings (the old 15c palace and some newer montastery cloisters), a quaint old botanical gargen, and miles of hidden pathways to explore. You have to go to the very top of the main hill, where the fort/gun placement is for the view of the walled city across the water. There are plenty of places to swim, with more or fewer people all around the island, and including the small swimming hole fed by warm water. Near the dock is a newer "trendy" bar/cafe, but we preferred the olderrestaurant near the cloister is very relaxing and serves surprisingly good light food. Overall, it's understated and very peaceful

It only takes 15 minutes by ferry to reach Lokrum, and it is definitely worth the trip if you are looking for a break from the very busy city of Dubrovnik. There is not too much to do on the island but you can find some decent beaches.

There are peacocks all over the island, which we thought was kind of entertaining.

Not worth spending an entire day, but given the frequent ferry times, it's worth a visit.

Locum is a nice island like so many islands in Croatia. Very enjoyable if you like exploring. The only bad side is beware of the price of drinks and snacks at the cafes on this island. We were charged £9 for 2 soft drinks.
