We were staying a few doors up and decided to try the local restaurant. Perhaps because we always arrive early, may be the reason why we have good service and waiting time is short to be served.
I order the lasagne, my friend a burrito and we shared a salad. Not long after my lasagne came out still sizzling in its bowl and the burrito also. we sat there for ages enjoying the ambience and the night was pleasant and slowly other diners arrived. As we left we noted how busy the restaurant had become and headed off around to the Stradun, to get our deesert a NZ icecream!

After two weeks in Europe we were ready for a break in our meals. Not enough to go looking for a McDonalds or Burger King but enough that when we came across a Mexican menu at Silok we grabbed for it.

It turned out to be just what we expected--standard Mexican fare with a Dubrovnik flare. For me, a meat burrito, a giant among burritos, overflowed my large plate causing laughter from the better half.

The laughter evaporated when they set down her fajita plate--a huge, huge 2.5 inch high pan filled to overflowing with folded tortillas, meat, lettuce, tomatoes, olives, and sour cream, avocado and hot sauces.

Throw in a coke and large beer and the 223 kuna ($44) bill didn't seem too bad.

This strange Mexican food in a strange town was remarkable delicious and we managed to do a great deal of damage to the entrees. We left, quite full and content, still smiling about the size of the items.

The hot sauce, by the way, was smokin' and had us humming a Johnny Cash tune as we staggered away. It was an enjoyable experience.

This is quite a large restaurant with quite a large menu that covers a wide variety of foods. We both had pizza and didn't have any complaints. The service was fairly friendly and the food was nice. The beers are also reasonably priced for a restaurant witin the city walls.

A couple of the tables around us did appear to have problems, the main one being a woman on the table next to us that ordered a vegitarian Mexican dish which was served with meat! Stick to the pizzas and you should be fine!

This is quite a big restaurant - 40 tables we were informed. We decided to eat here because of the Mexican food section, having had 2 weeks worth of pizza, pasta and seafood. The Mexican was actually good (I was a little dubious when ordering) the problem is it took well over an hour to get our food. Other tables were seated after us, got there food, left and we were still waiting. We enquiried and were told soon soon a few times. I pointed out that other tables had their food & was told they were very busy - doesn't explain why we were still waiting - and finally the waiter said it was being prepared in a different kitchen. Still don't understand how that requires that long a wait. When the food finally arrived the order was wrong. I had ordered the vegetable burrito and was brought meat. As I don't eat meat this was a problem. They apologised and brought out the correct meal ( missing the beans though) in about 10 mins - making me question again why it had taken so long earlier. They would not give a discount for the long wait & incorrect meal - offering only a free small beer. We had 3 fantastic dinners in other restaurants in Duubrovnik. Do yourself a favour & don't go here!!

The waiter was very impatient while taking orders making us uncomfortable, told us to hurry up twice! Didn't bring all food at the same time, Calamari had bad smell and taste, the rest of the food was of below average quality.
