“Okay but not amazing ”
Reviewed June 5, 2014 via mobile

There are so many wonderful things to see and do in Dubrovnik that this museum just felt like a bit of a let down. The building is very beautiful but the artifacts in it are not altogether that interesting and without a guide you may not be exactly sure how what you are looking at connects to anything to so with Croatia. That being said, it is not a bad way to pass some time if you have some spare or if you have purchased a Dubrovnik card and want to make the most of it. The building is very pretty.

“Local history on display”
Reviewed May 10, 2014

Stroll between the different rooms and see the various facets of the city's unique history. You could see items for ancient times all the way through to modern history, with a shivering photo exhibition of Dubrovnik plight during the Croatian war of independence in the early 1990's. This wouldn't be the first item on my recommendations list in Dubrovnik, but if you're there for more than 2 days or if it's raining out there, it's worth a visit.

“Lots to see”
Reviewed May 7, 2014

There are lots of places to see in the old town, quite a few of which charge a fee to go in. I thought this one was worth the fee as there was loads to see inside. I kept thinking I'd seen all the rooms and then I'd come across another one. In addition to the state rooms there were other exhibitions and the one I liked best was the photos from the war period especially the ones of the shops in Stradun with their colourful temporary shutters. Also the rooms with the flintlocks and muskets, and the money boxes. Its also a beautiful building from the outside. We didn't buy a Dubrovnik card but just paid the one off fee.

“Venetian influence”
Reviewed April 30, 2014

Can be seen here, however, it is really a mini compared to the Doge's palace in Venice. Wouldn't say you should go out of your way for this but as part of your wandering around old town, it is a diversion.

“Great on a rainy day.”
Reviewed April 27, 2014

We got a 4 museum pass and the Rector's Palace was included on it. We did not set out to specifically visit but were pleasantly surprised. The layout is very straightforward and although it is quite spacious it has the potential to get very crowded when a large Asian tour group all come in at once. The cells are fantastic under the galleries but again, don’t go near them if a large tour group is around. It is scary enough going in without being crushed in with no escape by a horde.
The collection of apothecary ware from the old pharmacy is amazing and well worth a look.
