We had booked the Neptun through Booking.com, but when we arrived we were actually booked into the Royal Palm Hotel which is one of the hotels in the Importanne Resort.
.
Aside from that, we had a beautiful room (a suite actually with two bathrooms, two wardrobes and a small lounge). We had booked a panoramic sea view double, which indeed we had. A stunning view of the whole bay from a lovely veranda. The room had good facilities, decent hairdryer, plenty of toiletries and a huge bed (really very wide) and it was quiet for a decent night's sleep.
When you arrive at the reception you are given a map of the resort and imagine you will never find your way around, but its very simple. There are four restaurants, nine pools (we only swam in one!) and you can also swim in the sea from the rocks in front of the hotels (I didn't fancy that as there are some sharp looking rocks! But good for those who enjoy sea swimming and kids with snorkels)
Breakfast was served in The Castile restaurant, this is self service (even though an a la carte menu is mentioned n the hotel information I never saw one). The breakfast is varied, hot food and cold meats, cheeses, bread etc. It is not freshly cooked, the scrambled egg lived up to my expectation of buffet scrambled egg ie thick and yellow (why do hotels bother?). On the whole the breakfast was good and you could have as much as you wished. Service at breakfast was a bit hit and miss, we waited quite a while to get tea and coffee even though there appeared to be plenty of staff.
The staff were generally friendly and hard working in the hotel.
The pool we swam in was fresh water and adults only. The water was clean and the pool area was also clean with an ample number of loungers and sunshades. As said there are nine pools, some are adults only and others are family orientated.
There is also a spa offering various beauty treatments. I didn't use the spa so cannot comment on this, but it looked very pleasant.
The hotel never appeared busy even though we were told it was very full (we couldn't get a late check out!). I think the sheer size of the resort allows for this, we never knew where all the people were!!
I was pleasantly surprised by the Neptun (or Royal Palm, I am still not sure where we were placed). The place is spacious, clean and served by decent restaurants (we ate at two)
Nothing negative, apart from the lack of late check out, but that's just me. I think, whenever you book ask for a sea view. It really is worth the extra money and we saw some of the other views which weren't very good and you need to see the fantastic sunsets that Croatia has to offer each evening. Try the Bluesky Lounge for a really great view of this.
