This hotel was in great location. You were based on the harbour so could watch the boats coming and going all day long. We then found we were a 10 minute walk from a strip of restaurants and bars which had a very holiday resort feel to it. Saying that, if you walked the other way you were about half an hour/40 minutes from Dubrovnik itself. Some people preffered getting a bus but it is walkable with comfortable shoes. We also took a trip to copacabana beach which was around another 30 minute walk away.

The hotel itself was great, the swimming pool area was tranquil and relaxing even though sometimes getting sunbeds was a bit tricky. Couldn't fault the rooms. The glass door people are talking about to the bathroom? It's frosted glass so you can't see anything but shadows the other side.

One of the members of the party was Coelic - so gluten intolerant. If you asked the staff in the buffet room they would point what is okay to eat and what isn't. They could also make you up a packed lunch with gluten free bread for 70 kunar which was good value. There was confusion in the pool bar with the menu as some things are marked up as gluten free when theyre not so watch out for this.

Croatia in itself is a great trip for anybody - you get a real mixture of people there and tehre is so much to see and do. You could go with friends, family or part of a couple and have a great time.

Hotel has a very stylish frontage which hides just how big it really is. We stayed in a superior room which is in the original building. The room was well appointed, most things you would expect from a hotel: safe, hairdryer, kettle, etc. Room had a shower over the bath, as well as a separate shower cubicle with large rain shower and multiple water jets. Shower does have a semi obscured glass wall backing on to the bedroom and the bathroom a glass door, so be careful who you travel with!

Breakfast buffet was big and fresh. Pancakes, pastries, fruit, yoghurt, juice, cold meats, cheeses, bacon, sausages, eggs, etc. The perfect fuel for exploring the old town.

The old town of Dubrovnik is only a thirty minute walk from the hotel along the harbour front, up a hill and along a costal road. You can catch the bus from outside the hotel (number 6), which runs very frequently and until after midnight (single tickets 15KN if bought on board, or 12KN if bought from hotel reception, all day travel 30KN )

We have just returned from our week at the Hotel Lapad in Dubrovnik. The hotel is 3 km outside Dubrovnik which at the height of the season would offer a welcome escape from the tourist throng of the old town. As we booked for the end of season the Hotel Lapad was a little quiet in terms of it had the "end of season" feeling however that said, it was a very nice place to stay. We plumped for the half board option which presented good value for money and gave us the flexibility to stay in after a long day of sightseeing. A short bus trip of 15 mins would get us back to the old town if we wanted to go for a different option.

The food was very good and very plentiful especially for the fish eaters. I was limited with vegetarian options though. I would recommend that the hotel offers a little more to their non meat or fish eating customers!

The restaurant staff were lovely. They were very attentive and friendly and ensured that everyone was well attended to.

The rooms were well proportioned, well appointed and nicely decorated. We had a side sea view room which was excellent and for a fraction of the cost, it gave us a sneaky peak at the ocean and at what the weather had to offer.

In terms of the in house excursion service desk, we thought that they were very expensive for daily excursions to the major tourist attractions outwith the old town. We therefore chose to do business with Sombrero Travel which was next door to the hotel and infinitely cheaper. The service from this company was great. We went to Montenegro and Mostar with them and had Darius as our driver and guide who was excellent. We would however recommend that you buy the Dubrovnik Tourist card which is available for 1,3, or 7 day options and can be purchased from reception in the hotel. This card is the cheapest way to travel in and out of the old town and, includes access to the main old town museums and city walls and offers money off purchases at some shops and restaurants. The number 6 bus which is the lifeline to the old town passes outside the hotel every 10 mins. and is the best way to around and about.

There is also a really lovely little winery next door whose owners are really friendly and very informative. We would recommend a visit during your trip for a wine tasting experience and a purchase. It's a great way to keep a local business going!!!!

This hotel is ideal for a visit to Dubrovnik if you want to have a balance of daytime city biz and night calm as there is not too much to do in Lapad itself. We would recommend if you choose this hotel that you select the half board optionif only to give you the flexibility to suit yourself and to help manage your budget as eating out in the old town is not cheap.

Room Tip: At the very least try to get a side sea view room

We stayed here for 3 nights in September as a base to visit Dubrovnik. On arrival we were told we had been upgraded and were allocated a room on the first floor at the back - there was no view so not sure what we had been upgraded from! It wasn't important as we only wanted to sleep there, and the room was huge with a lovely bathroom.

The whole hotel was very clean with good fittings - the bedroom we had looked like it was recently decorated and had a very comfortable bed, and being at the back there was no noise and we slept really well.

Breakfast was perfectly adequate - lots of choice and the food never ran out. The dining room is bright and airy and overlooks the front courtyard and pool. We didn't eat here at night - there are lots of nice places to eat within a short walk in any direction - we found a particularly good restaurant about 10 minutes walk from the hotel - go out the front door, turn left, walk to the end of the road and up the hill.

The area round about the hotel is wonderful - boats coming and going all day long, just sitting on a bench along the seafront is a lovely way to pass a couple of hours - there's always something going on.

The only negative thing I will say about the hotel is that the outside space is very small for a hotel of that size - the pool (which was freezing) took up most of the courtyard with very little available space for sunbeds/chairs. However, as most of the guests were visiting Dubrovnik and touring the area there were never many people round the pool at any one time.

To summarise, this is a great hotel for a few nights but I wouldn't choose it for a longer stay if I wanted to sunbathe all day long - there are many larger hotels in the area which would be a better choice for that kind of holiday.

We stayed for a,week with friends. The Jet2 package didn't disappoint. The rooms are very modern and have great bathrooms. Lighting and air-con system takes some time to master but it's worth the effort. Balconies are small with only room for one chair but this didn't bother us as we were busy sight-seeing. We stayed on bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast was superb with lots of choice and service was excellent. Staff werre plentiful and very efficient. Dubrovnik old town is easily accessible by bus - the number 6 Babin Kuk stops right outside the hotel. The local area only has a few bars and restaurants but it's only a short walk up the hill to many more .Try the local Japanese but you will need to book as there are only a handful of tables inside. Lots of seating outside if the weather is,warm. Dubrovnik old town is beautiful with lots to see . Take a trip around the city walls - the views are magnificent, or take the cable car. Lots of boat trips on offer from the harbour. We chose the trip to Cavtat which has a picturesque harbour. We loved it.

Room Tip: Book a room with a view of the port if you want to see cruise ships across the water.

We had a sea view room with balcony overlooking the harbour, which is very pleasant to look out onto day and night. The rooms are a bit small, but adequate. The beds and pillows could be more comfortable, but we had a lot worse in Italy. Despite a few minor complaints we found the hotel stay very enjoyable. The breakfast was awesome, with the best bacon I have ever tasted and lots of variety to choose from. The restaurant and café served good quality food. The staff in the restaurant are very friendly and overall staff were very helpful and attentive. The location is fantastic, it's right on the harbour in Lapad. You can see the bridge and you can watch the cruise ships come in. There is a bus stop outside the hotel, across the road which takes you to the old town.

Room Tip: Choose the 8th floor and first room as you get out of the lift on your left. It has the best view o...

For our first trip to Croatia my wife and me stayed at the Lapad, half board with Inghams and we were not dissappointed.
In accordance with the Ingham brochure the accommodation would be allocated in the new wing and our booked superior room was on the 4th floor although because the building is on a hill our balcony was actually an outside area with two chairs and a table and a view of Gruz harbour from the outside area. The room was very clean with some modern lighting controls which did take some getting used to. The air condition was effective and the rain shower in the bathroom very good. Unlike some of the reviews I have seen, I found the Wi Fi very effective in the bedroom and in the public area's for the whole week.

All staff were very friendly although we did find the male receptionists rather curt in their response. The same could not be said for the bar staff who were very friendly and courteous at all times.
Excellent English was spoken by all that we met and it was true what the driver of our excursion coach said at the start of one of our tours - I bet I can speak better English that you can Croatian. He was dead right there!

A number of reviewers have commented on the lack of sunbeds for the hotel. I think the issue was more the confined area of where the sun could be captured especially in the September/ October late afternoon sunshine. There were plenty of stacked unused beds in the garden area.

Regarding the restaurant, the breakfast buffet was good and there was plenty to chose from. As for the evening buffet, although it was acceptable it was much the same on most evenings especially the sweets which was just fruit and mostly cake. It would have been nice to have some cheese and biscuits on offer. I wish now that we had tried the a la carte menu seeing other comments since our return.

Getting around Dubrovnik was quite easy and the No 6 bus was well used by us although full on most occasions. Taking the full run to Babin Kuk was worth the effort as we was able to take a short walk to Copacabana beach. Not a lot there but very pleasant sitting having a drink on a warm day.

Finally and this is more for the holiday provider than the hotel, the one excursion we took was to Montenegro. The vehicle we had was a minibus which was full and we was fortunate to have the front seats beside the driver. The excursion itself was very good but the surprise to us was the driver was also the guide who was holding the microphone and driving at the same time. How someone can concentrating on driving on quite bendy roads while at the same time giving a very good in depth description of the surrounding area and history of Croatia / Montenegro beats me. I doubt such activity is against the law in Croatia but it would not be allowed in the UK. Not certain this is a common practice on excursions as the driver did make a point of telling us that he was having to do both activities.

Overall a very enjoyable stay and would not hesitate to recommend the hotel to others.

Room Tip: Getting a room with an outside area (not a balcony) gives more room for two people to sit outside.
