“SO LUXURIOUSLY RELAXING”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2013

Pure luxury! The best view I have ever had from my hotel room. The best hotel breakfasts I have ever had. High luxury comfort and super accurate, swift and friendly staff.

The hotel lunches and dinners are not superb - as everything else in the hotel is -
therefor the 4-rating and not a 5, but the food is not spectacular anywhere in Dubrovnik.

The hotel is a 15 minutes picturesque walk away from the gates of the old town.
If you do not walk: The hotel also gives you at free ride every hour to the gates and back. When weather allows with their Riva mahogony boat.

We chose Villa Dubrovnik to celebrate a special occasion and was blown away by the hotel, its facilities and lovely staff. It is a real 5* experience - in fact better than 5* hotels I have stayed in around the world. Its location is perfect - in a fairytale setting with blue sea and facing island of Lokrum, What really made it perfect though were the staff. They were so attentive, anticipating every need in such a welcoming fashion that they felt like old friends. The prices are high for food and drink, but that's pretty much the same in and around Dubrovnik anyway.. but we were happy to pay for the privilege of staying at this truly special hotel.

Room Tip: We paid for a deluxe room but as all are sea facing and luxurious I think you would not be disappoin...

When my husband and I Made last-minute plans for a visit to Croatia we contacted Jay of JayWays Travel who specializes in that country. Jay planned an excellent itinerary for us including five star hotels. Our first night was at the Villa Dubrovnik. What an introduction to this beautiful part of the world! The property is built on a cliff jutting out over the sea. Bedrooms are large and their private terraces very ample, all with views of the walled town which is an easy stroll away. It takes less than 15 minutes to get to the ancient city gates. In the summer months you can take a hotel boat over to the dock. In cooler weather you get a Mercedes limo ride, if that is your preference. Breakfast was included and generous. Restaurant food excellent. Between the views, location and service I would never stay anywhere else on a visit to Dubrovnik!

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights during off peak season. I stayed in a standard room room which i was happy with. The room was large enough to move around freely and store plenty of luggage/shopping. It was clean, smell free. The balcony provided me with a nice view of the sea and the private hotel stone beach. The spacious and has chairs and a table. I sat in the balcony enjoying a drink and a smoke many times, watching the sea waves, observing the lovely view and enjoying warm weather. The balcony also provided a view of the old towns mains boat harbour. There is also a library with a small but varied selection of books, its a quite area where you can also order tea/drinks if you want to. Wifi coverage is good in all areas of hotel. Room service is quick and efficient. There is a kettle and varied mini bar in the room. The sky bar was closed due to the quite season. It is a luxury hotel but i did come across some little nuisances. I realised my hand towels were wet which clearly indicated that the staff had just rolled up my used towels and put them back in place rather than actually replacing them. Water was not replenished every morning. The restaurant staff were friendly and the food was average. As expected the food is not cheap at the hotel. They do offer a scheduled free private boat ride to the old town and in the event of rough sea conditions, they have a free bus service. It’s about a 10/15 minute walk to the old town, its moderately uphill and downhill so can be tiresome for those who do not like walking much. There are tours companies and convenience stores on route just before you get to the old town. I wouldn’t book tours and excursions with the hotel as they are extortionately priced compared tour prices at the old town. Id stay here again for sure as i was overall very impressed.

Room Tip: Try to get room on a higher floor as that will prevent the trees obstructing your view from the balc...

We visited the spa for some treatments for a friends hen do. There were 4 of us aged 30-40. On arrival we were escorted down to the spa from street level. We had full use of the facilities and were explained how everything worked etc. All of us were supplied with dressing gowns and slippers. A good call is to order a cocktail and watch the world go by on a canopy bed. We opted for a couples massage which included champagne, unfortunately the masseuses whispered to each other in Croatian the whole treatment. When we complained we were given a free 30min treatment of our choice which was well received by us. The location is stunning and despite having the women chatter through our massage the place is simply blissful.

I spent 3 nights at Villa Dubrovnik in November after reading reviews on TA. The hotel sits about a 15-minute walk from the walled city. The walk is perfectly enjoyable, and the hotel runs a shuttle van. My room was large, and boasted a beautiful bathroom with Bulgari products. The balcony looked out on the Adriatic and over to the walled city. The entrance to the hotel is stunning and architecturally very interesting. The included breakfast served in the dining room included baked goods, eggs, cereals, fresh juice, coffee... making for a great start to a day of exploring this historic town. As superb as all of this was, it was topped by world class service. The Front Office manager Mato Knego and his team made me feel like part of a really high class family. I would highly recommend this hotel for those visiting Dubrovnik.
