“Great tour to Mostar!”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

We did a tour to Mostar with Stjepan and Miho. On the way we also visited Ston and Pocitelj. Our guide was very knowledgeable, friendly, courteous and helpful in attending to our needs. Mostar is very much worth a visit. Despite being in a neighboring country, it presented a totally different culture and scenery from Croatia. Stjepan provided us the history of Croatia, Bosnia and the conflicts within this region. He also shared the perspectives of a local. Overall we would recommend this company to anyone who wants to do a personalized tour. Even our driver- Miho was very nice and knowledgeable. We felt he was too intelligent to be just a driver.

“Amazing tours of Croatia and Montenegro!”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

Ivo provided one of the most informative, interesting, and personalized tour I have ever experienced, and we highly recommend him to anyone traveling to Dubrovnik! We originally booked a one-day tour from Dubrovnik to Montenegro during our stay, which was amazing- Ivo knew the best roads to travel, had an interesting and thoughtful answer to all of our questions, and took us to beautiful views in several cities. When we mentioned during that day tour that we did not have plans the next day and asked for his recommendation, he told us that he actually had a free afternoon and would take us to Ston if we wanted to for a reduced price. We were very happy to spend another day with him and the second day was just as wonderful as the first. Ivo's tours are a great value for anyone wanting to see a lot and learn a lot about the area in a short amount of time- he is a wealth of knowledge about many subjects and really gave us a great history of the region. He was very flexible, and when we would mention something that we wanted to see or had heard about, it was no problem. He also had recently pressed his own olive oil from his olive trees and gave us a large quantity of oil to take back with us, which we really enjoyed. Overall, an amazing experience that I highly recommend!

“Best Possible Tour of the Balkans”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

As an avid traveler, admittedly I was nervous not to have done my own research prior to the journey to a fairly spontaneous trip to Dubrovnik with a wonderful friend from college. Thankfully, my friend was smart enough to consult Trip Adviser and see the tours offered by Ivo.

Needless to say, it was the best decision we would have made to go forward with the tour. For our first day in the Balkans, Ivo picked us up from our hotel and provided all transportation costs and costs of sites to see within the tour, which made everything incredibly convenient. We journeyed first to Perast, where he told us the historic details while we took in the stunningly beautiful views. From there, we went to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kotor. As we walked through the streets that still maintained the architecture from the Venetian control from centuries before, the enchanting feel of the city could not be overlooked.

Afterward, Ivo drove us up a mountain to get one of the most breathtaking views my eyes have ever seen. Overlooking Kotor and expansive territory, your pictures despite looking like a painting done by a renowned artist will not even do it justice.

Our last stop in Montenegro was in Budva, a town that is a major tourist destination in the Summer and on New Years, but calm the rest of the year. This little beach town was the perfect place to grab lunch. When you do have lunch, be sure to invite Ivo to eat with you. He will politely ask, and definitely agree. He will continue to share the rich history of the region with you and is also really excellent company in general.

During lunch, we asked him for his advise what to do the next day mentioning that we did not know how to get to Ston without a car. He made a few phone calls and rearranged his schedule to take us the next day without us even needing to ask. That night, he confirmed that he could take us and sent an e-mail with the itinerary and a very gracious price. Naturally, we automatically accepted and went to Ston the next day after touring the City Walls of Dubrovnik from Ivo's wonderful recommendation.

Before we ended the day, Ivo took us to the top of the mountain to see the sunset on Dubrovnik so that we did not have to pay for the cable call, yet another previously unplanned activity. As a native Floridan and resident of Madrid, I thought that I had already seen the best sunsets out there. I was wrong-- very wrong at that. Croatia provides a combination of the two: a beautiful painted Sky of deep reds, oranges, pinks, and blues over the sea. It would have been possible to experience from the hilltop for the most optimal view without Ivo's help.

The next day was just as remarkable. Ston has the best oysters and muscles I have ever tasted. We also tried the black risotto and variations of seafood risotto which was beyond delicious. It was the perfect way to to treat ourselves to a delicious meal after touring the authentic salt ponds and city wall with Ivo. Again, make sure you invite Ivo to eat with you, because it makes lunch even better. We had a hilarious and very hospitable waiter that I hope to have again when we go back to Croatia, which will hopefully be sooner rather than later.

When we go back, I will most certainly be touring with Ivo again to the wine country. Not only did he put up with our requests to go to out of the way to the Bosnian border without hesitation, but he is just a really fascinating and awesome guy to be around. There is no possible way that you could get a better experience of the Balkans without taking a tour with Ivo or through his company.

The attention to detail was unparalleled. He even took us to another small Roman village and to the airport after Ston which would have been substantially more expensive. If you weren't already convinced, after I felt like I owed him a gift after the extraordinary two day tour he took us on, he gave my friend and I a bottle of his own, freshly pressed olive oil made from his olive trees. Croatia and Montenegro would not have been nearly as marvelous without our fabulous guide by our side.

You most certainly must book your tour with Ivo as you will get no greater experience!

“Great Montenegro and Ston/Peljesac tours”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

Booked two private tours with Ivo, who offered not only local knowledge about Croatia and Montenegro, but also his honest opinions about Croatian culture. Ivo speaks English fluently and wants to share information about his country, so it was easy to learn about how "regular" Croatians live. He was very friendly, punctual, and attentive to what we wanted to see and learn. Would definitely recommend him to others seeking a personalized tour. Montenegro is highly recommended, even if spending just 3 days in Dubrovnik, as the country is absolutely beautiful. Think Ston is worthwhile if spending more than 3 days in Dubrovnik (the town itself is very small).

“Trip Advisor recommendations spot on”
Reviewed November 23, 2012

Following all the superior reviews on TA, I booked a full day tour of Dubrovnik and Ston with Ivo Tomic. He did not disappoint!
We had an informative, fun day seeing a beautiful city with Ivo who has lived there all his life. The highlight for us was the fresh oysters literally just harvested in a charming restaurant in Ston. Book early...he is very much in demand.
