“Decidedly average ”

Food massively overpriced for what it is. Don't make the effort to travel here from Dubrovnik. Nicer and cheaper places in the Old Town. We only went as next door to our hotel.

“Honest fare...soothing music.”
Reviewed August 8, 2014 via mobile

Having walked by several times and considering to try, but wary of just another tourist trap, on our last night in Dubrovnik we eventually submitted. By now we knew the general menu's by heart. Perusing the menu we were not swayed by the dishes offered, but were drawn into the ambience of Komin by the gentle sounds of the troubadour pervading our senses as the food would soon do. Gentle, basic, honest, pretense-free!
Undoubtedly a pleasant surprise and regretfully one not to be repeated soon as we are returning home.

“An culinary oasis in Dubrovnik”
Reviewed August 7, 2014

Following our first visit, my wife and I returned the this culinary oasis several times during our holiday. The atmosphere was without doubt warm friendly and you were very welcomed all the staff were very pleasant and attentive, I do however have to mention one person by name and that is 'MIHO', we both felt he was the life of the place, nothing was too much trouble, a really nice, genuine man and always made you feel welcome. Thank you Miho!

There is a great selection on the menu, we tried the chicken (moist, tender and well seasoned), steak (mouth watering and cooked to perfection), spicy sausages (perfect and so very tasty), the Lamb cooked in the kettle (absolutely beautiful, tender, moist, well seasoned and comes with roast potatoes OMG they were delightful - you do need to pre order at least 3 hours before eating, but you won't be disappointed!),

The deserts are, well, you need to try them, my wife had the chocolate soufflé, more of a fondant, but lovely, it had nuts around the outside which added another, tasty but complimentary dimension to the desert! I've had the home made ice cream which was well worth a try! And the fruit platter mmmm.

If you don't try this restaurant then it's your loss, it really is an oasis in Dubrovnik!

“Tremendous service and setting.......food excellent too!”
Reviewed August 3, 2014

We had stopped in at Komin a couple of days previous on the way to dinner somewhere else just to check it out really. The owner (with his extremely cool English setter hound) was extremely helpful and accommodating, allowed us to sit for a drink and check out the menu, knowing full well we were on our way elsewhere. We did decide to return another evening and glad we did.......

They remembered us instantly with a cheery smile, including the resident canine (who by the way is cooler than the mutts proverbials) and the service was impeccable from then until we left.

Menu is simple without being in any way limited but cuisine is focused on being fresh and superbly cooked, not tarted up in any way, or trying to be something it isn't.

Thoroughly enjoyable evening, 3 courses each (the chocolate soufflé is melt in the mouth) with a bottle of Rose and a litre of water with tip 620 kuna. Excellent value.

Recommended without question.

“Nice lunch”
Reviewed August 3, 2014

We had grilled fish which was fresh and tasty and a risotto which wasn't as nice as others we got spoiled by in our time in Croatia. It might be more a steak and fish place, the grill set up in the center of the restaurant was certainly impressive. It seemed a little more expensive for food and beer than comparable places. Nothing ridiculous though. Service was friendly.
