“Worth a visit”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2014

Past reviewers have pointed out the poor translation and the emotive way that events were described but this is the modern history of Dubrovnik and the people there had a terrible time and saw their beautiful city being blown apart.
it gives an added insight added to which the views over the city are beautiful.

“Take the cable car”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2014

Housed in the fort at the top of Mount Srd which towers over the old town, this is in the rooms defended during the recent war. Make no mistake, the language of some of the exhibits leaves you in no doubt that the scars are still fresh and nobody locally will be forgiving and forgetting in a hurry. Walk down the zig zag path of if you are more adventurous, there is a ridge route that takes you down to the cruise liner port

The view on the cable car ride up to the museum is great. We didn't have to wait long at either end to get on. The museum itself has a lot of information and pictures, and where it is situated makes it even more poignant. There is a very good restaurant on site and clean toilets.

“Surprisingly bad”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2014 via mobile

After a strenuous trek up the hill where the museum is located,we hoped to be greeted with an educational and informative experience. Our time here was, unfortunately, not what we had hoped. The written English was substandard. Long, elaborate and grammatically abysmal sentences that, at times, left you wondering what they were talking about. Forgivable. Secondly and less forgivable was the emotive and loaded language used. Language like "the enemy were too cowardly to enter..." This has no place in a modern educational facility. It isn't neutral, it isn't informative. Everything seemed like an attempt to persuade, rather than educate. Do not go here if you don't want sensationalised information. Instead attend a museum that is more interested in providing visitors with an educational experience than a nationalist one. Save your 30 kuna for an overpriced ice cream on the city walls!

“An Eye-Opener”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2014

This detailed exhibition sets out the history behind the 91/92 siege of Dubrovnik during the disintegration of the former Yugoslavia into its constituent nations. It's another layer of Dubrovnik history but one which, because it is so close in time, makes you look at the city in a different light.
