We took the cable car to be able to see and enjoy the view. On a whim, because of an interest in history, we paid the additional $5 for entrance to the Fort. Ever so glad that we did. There is a museum about the Homeland War in the Fort - interesting if a little over-detailed. The view from the top of the Fort was worth far more that the admission cost. A fabulous view over Dubrovnik. And lots of elbow room. From the fortress roof, we saw a zig zagged path down the hill. We though that would be a fun way down the hill. It was a stations of the cross walk (meant to be done from bottom to top), rough pathway (flip flops would not be comfortable), and worth the walk. We came out in a residential area and used google maps to find our way back to the cable car ticket office.
