“Best restaurant so far in Croatia”
Reviewed July 11, 2012 via mobile

We went by boat to this great restaurant. Had the best view on a spectacular sunset on the terrace of Villa Ruza. Joseph was a very attentive waiter. The food was really delicious, we couldn't ask for more. The only minus here was the price of our taxi-boat.

“Villa Ruza”
Reviewed July 10, 2012

Bit expensive but excellent food and service. We had booked on the Monday and when we got there there was a mix up about our booking so we didn't have a table overlooking the sea so we re-booked for the Wednesday and gave us great service and knocked us 10% off because of the mix up. Well worth going back for - the view of the sunset was memorable.

“What a treat!”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

Hard to get to (island so you need prob expensive water taxi) & very limited menu (day we went the waiter just told us what they had on) but GO! The place to celebrate something special. Beautiful romantic location, laid back stylish venue & friendly staff, just caught & picked fresh produce, expertly prepared.... And great value too... Wish we could go again! Highly recommended as a Dubrovnik must...

“Blown away!”
Reviewed July 2, 2012

I stayed on the island with a friend of mine about two weeks ago. We stayed there for 7 days, but It wasn't until day three that we decided to go and check out the restaurant that we had read such great reviews about here on tripadvisor. We expected it to be good, but I was actually blown away! Just as we stept our foot in to the restaurant we were greeted by a smiling and very friendly waiter that seeted us right away. All the tables at the restaurant is placed right by the ocean so it doesn't really matter where you sit because you will still get a great view over the ocean. Since we were there before high season they didn't have the menus ready, but the waiter was very informative and answered whatever we asked so that really wasn't a problem. The first day I ordered a shrimp risotto wish was delicious. Unfortunately we did not try the variety of fresh fish that they served, but I guess I will have to try that the next time?! Besides from the food the atmosphere was just lovely. The first day we were there a boat suddenly passes by the restaurant with a guy singing opera, and this while the sun was setting behind the mountaintop. Probably doesn't happen every day, but it was pretty cool. Let's just say we ate our dinner at Villa Ruza the rest of the stay (except for one day when they had an organised party there). Just amazing!

“Special dining experience.”
Reviewed July 1, 2012

After reading tripadvisor reviews, I had decided to give Villa Ruza a go and left them a message online with the possibility of booking a table. Ruder the owner was very helpful in arranging the water taxi to the restaurant and booking the table.
Radisson Blu was about 10 minutes on the boat from Kolocep so it was convenient. When we got there Ruder and one of the waiters welcomed us to the island and sat us at a table where we can get a full view of the sunset.
A variety of fresh fish was brought to us on a platter for us to choose from. There were local produce like the Scorpion fish, sea bass, John Dory....etc. All looked very fresh.
We had a tuna salad and a shirmp risotto as appertisers. Tuna was the freshest I have had. Shrimp in the risotto was also brilliant. Our main course the sea bass took about 1 hr 30 minutes to arrive, and was served in front of us with some courgettes.
Our meal was about 3 hours in total. My tip to diners at the restaurant would be: if you know you are about to finish your meal, order your water taxi, so no extra waiting time would be needed. The dining experience and the food was definitely special, and I would recommend it to anyone.
